Pin assignment on the purple DSL cable

  • Good evening everyone,

I must install my internet box (Internet-Box 2) about fifteen meters from my telephone socket (no mains socket)

For this I planned to use Cat 5E cable in F/UTP, I have the crimping pliers and RJ 45 connectors

I noticed that the purple “DSL” cable was not using all pairs. I searched the forum but couldn’t find anything regarding my question:

Can I first use this cable and then in a second what would be the assignment of the different wires?

Thank you in advance and have a good evening

    Hi @Benjamin

the purple RJ45 cable is nothing more than a crossover ethernet cable.

Swisscom makes them purple so that the customer does not use a straight ethernet cable (the yellow ones), however you can use any crossed ethernet cable to connect your router to the telephone socket!

information on the positions of the sheet: [http://forums.cnetfrance.fr/topic/6-ethernet-cable-droit-et-cable-croise/](http://forums.cnetfrance.fr/topic/6 -ethernet-straight-cable-and-cross-cable/)

    have a nice day 🙂

    Hello everyone,

Here is the position corresponding to the connection of an Rj45 via different type to the TT83 (the white cable with purple tip is a straight cable)

    RJ45 RJ12 RJ11 TT83

    1 TX +

    2 TX - 1

    3 RX + 2 1

    4———————-3———2—— ————–1A White TX+ (or other colors)

    5———————-4———3—— ————–1B Blue TX- (same)

    6 RX - 5 4

    7 6

    8

No crossover cable. If you cross (4-5) it also works, but in principle we don’t cross.

Pairs 1-2 and 3-6 are used for 10/100 Mbps Ethernet network cabling
Pair 4-5 is then used for telephony.

PLEASE NOTE if your network is Gbit/s, the 4 pairs are used.

    Greetings @ all
