It would be interesting to know whether Wifi Calling also works abroad, for example in a hotel, and whether you could then use it to make calls via Wifi instead of the IO app.

Swisscom wants to send an SMS to all activated customers, I haven’t received that yet.

Will be introduced gradually, so just be patient…

What does it look like for prepaid customers? Will this service also be activated?

No.

No, you can’t.

Unfortunately not “yet”. However, this should also be activated at a later date.

Hello everyone

Also for prepaid?

- An expansion to prepaid is planned, without being able to specify a date at the moment.

Why is WiFi calling not possible abroad?

- With the introduction of WiFi calling, we are aiming for better reception quality in buildings. In a further step, we would like to offer this expansion abroad as well. The technical requirements for this are being worked out. Free telephony and messaging abroad is already available to our customers today with our communication app iO.

Thanks for the answers Swisscom. Another technical question that surprises me.

If I understand it correctly, the best network should be selected automatically, even if you are in a call (without interruption). Where I live, I practically only have 2G reception around the house. What happens when I leave the house? Will the connection continue with 2G without interruption or is there an interruption because there is no 4G?

Hello mitsui

Thank you for your interest. Regarding the point “will the conversation be interrupted if I leave the WLAN network, for example?” we can say: This depends on the device. The device manufacturers may only provide this function later in a further software update.

Swisscom has prepared the network so that switching between VoLTE and WiFi calling takes place without interruption. Switching from WiFi calling to 3G/2G will result in a temporary shutdown. Therefore, the customer must activate WiFi calling on their device themselves.

We hope this answers your open questions and wish you a good start into the upcoming weekend.

Hello

Will it also work with a NATEL company plus subscription?

The requirements are: one of the following subscriptions: NATEL® (xtra) infinity, NATEL® (xtra) infinity plus or NATEL® entry

Greetings Andy

Guess we Migros ONE customers have to be left behind again?

Only the expensive SC subscriptions support the new technologies!

We don’t even have LTE yet!! It’s a shame the competition has such poor networks! Full 4G speed in all subscriptions and prepaid too!!

Yes, the name is Migros but the bill and everything is SC! Apparently 2 classes of customers! Ok at least we travel cheaper!

Oh yes, visual voice mail is not available with M either!

Hello AndyRo

The NATEL® company subscriptions correspond to the NATEL® entry subscriptions for private customers. This means it will also be possible to use VoLTE and WiFi calling with the NATEL® company subscriptions.

Hi

So I don’t see the advantage of WiFi calling anyway. The only thing that’s new is that the connection is interrupted when you leave the WLAN and LTE doesn’t happen to be present.

Wifi calling is mainly interesting for operators because they can use their mobile networks.

That’s why this is probably mixed up with the other topic of VoLTE so that it doesn’t stand out as much.

Apparently Apple’s firmware 8.4 (still BETA) comes with WIfi calling! I still have a prepaid from the salt competition (yes only in an emergency) I inserted the SIM into an iPhone 6 with the Beta SW and have the Wifi calling option in Kundencenter! Unfortunately I can’t test it, I only have 3G reception everywhere in the apartment, so of course I have WIFI everywhere!

So it’s possible that this is coming! At Apple!

Greetings

Question: Will switching from VoLTE(4G) to 3G/2G also lead to a crash?

Hello

The service was said to be activated gradually. I don’t want to stress you out, but tomorrow it will be a week since this message was communicated. As far as I know, nothing has been released yet. Or are there users who have already received an SMS and can use the new feature?
Are there any concrete dates when this will happen?

Hello Gipri

Exactly, we are gradually turning on 4G telephony for our customers. If you have a Samsung Galaxy S5 device and the appropriate subscription, you will receive an SMS from us as soon as the service is available. Thank you for your patience.
