Hello everyone,

I also installed the latest firmware (including app software). And the speed test didn’t work for me at first either.

I noticed the following: The speed test apparently doesn’t work in the following cases…

1) It may be that when using a firewall for the browser used (in my case Firefox) only ports 80 (http) and 443 (https) are permitted for outbound traffic. Other required ports may be blocked.

2) Similar to 1) also applies to a Flash plugin used; additional ports may also be required there, which may not yet be permitted.

3) Since I prefer the https protocol to http as often as possible (because it is encrypted), I wanted to run the speed test that way first - without success.

The solutions…

1) You release the TCP ports in the corresponding browser for outgoing traffic - the IP for the central storage of the Internet box should be used as the remote address (in my case 192.168.1.2) (release all TCP ports) AND the router’s gateway IP (in my case 192.168.1.1) (TCP port 5916 might be enough).

2) For me, a few outbound ports were already allowed for the Flash Player plugin, namely TCP 80, 443, 843 and 1935. That wasn’t enough. Port TCP 7000 was still missing. At least port TCP 843 cannot be omitted. The IP of the IB’s central storage is sufficient as a remote address (in my case 192.168.1.2).

3) With http as the protocol it worked without any problems - taking into account 1) and 2).

Edit: miscellaneous Corrections…

The firmware cannot be installed for me. I can select the new firmware and click Update Firmware. Then it takes about 3 minutes and I am logged out. When I log into the box again, the old firmware is still installed.

Which firmware do you mean - there is the router FW and the application FW… or If you mean the APP FW, were you able to successfully install the router FW beforehand?

And: did the download of the.rui and.acs work properly (possibly download the files again)?

I only tried the router firmware. Without that, the application FW doesn’t make any sense. With Firefox I couldn’t download the firmware at all, so I had to use IE.

OK,

What else you could try is:

a) Download the firmware again (because I also had trouble with the Fx, for example)

b) Restart the router beforehand

c) Reset the router to factory settings beforehand

Good luck!

What I also noticed with the new firmware:

The device names are now more restrictive: i.e. at least spaces (spaces) and underscores are no longer allowed (hyphens still work)…

I have one last suggestion:smileywink:

Sometimes it can be helpful in Firefox not to select the download link directly (left mouse button), but to select “Save target as…” with the right mouse button…

Otherwise, I can also send you the files zipped by email.

The router FW is approx. 30 MB, the APP FW is approx. 66 MB. In this case you could send me the email address via PM…

Thanks, SW team. The installation went perfectly!
The old CG never lasted the 35 days it said before the IB reboot.
Speed test runs OK. Certainly helpful for mass support. But just nice to have for an early adopter.

Goodbye

So with the new firmware, Swisscom has installed something new (at least for me). The 3G (maybe also 4G) backup function. Simply plug the 3/4G stick into the USB socket provided and as soon as VDSL, or whatever the primary access is, fails, the 3/4G stick takes over the connection to the Internet.

Great thing!!

P.S. it doesn’t necessarily have to be a Swisscom Abo.

Theoretically you could now use the box as a 4G AP during the holidays. Has anyone already tested the backup function with a 4G stick?

Hello everyone

The update worked great for me (05.00.22/05.00.32) and I didn’t notice any problems during the speed test.

Unfortunately after the update, the connected LAN/WLAN devices are no longer displayed for me (see picture)

Internet-Box.gif

Does anyone have a tip?

With the old FW I couldn’t connect the TV 2.0 to the Internet box via WLAN and had to use a WLAN connection kit. The problem is known to SC and has the ID 5A8D.

Has this problem been solved with the new FW (the release notes say “stability improvements in the 5 GHz WLAN”)?

FYI: I solved the device display by restarting the IB.

The only question that remains is whether the new firmware fixes the WiFi connection problems of the TV 2.0 or not.

WLAN connection between TV 2.0 Box and Internet Box: is not officially supported at the moment. It can work, but it doesn’t have to. WiFi is probably a bit tricky. 🙂
At the moment, if you don’t have a LAN connection, a DUO connection kit should be used.

Yes.

Internet and voice work if available with a Huawei E3276. Even TV runs with a good connection. Recording and replay without any problems. I couldn’t get live TV. After about 10 seconds, assuming when you switch to multicast, it’s over…

@Jüre
Mine runs perfectly with Huawei E173 3G and Sunrise subscription. Is there a standard that the stick must adhere to? I’m looking for a 4G stick in case I have problems with the internet again. Does anyone of the SC people here have any further information?

So with the Huawei E3276 4G Stick and NATEL® Easy BeFree pre Paid subscription, the InternetBox switches to G4 after about 30 seconds (when I unplug Copper VDSL2) and runs very well and quickly. If I plug VDSL2 back in, it works after about 15 on VDSL2 and stops G4 automatically.

Swisscom TV 2 Live TV only works for 10-15 seconds and then freezes.

It works better with recordings… but sometimes it gets stuck… (probably too busy on my network…)

Calling via AB or with the Rouseau is also possible.. cool thing (with recordings to watch!)

So emergency backup would be available…

By the way, in the picture above “Internet” shows the “WLAN” sign for Internet when the G4 Stick is online.

That’s clear 🙂

The multicast streams are of course only configured on the landline network. If this were also connected to the mobile network, the antennas and their feeds would be pretty dense from TV traffic… The problem won’t be solved so quickly. Furthermore, I don’t know whether the mobile is basically multicast capable.
