And the thread starter reports back…
The DEUTSCHE 7390 now runs more or less out of the blue with VDSL Annex B (ISDN). Tested yesterday, nothing worked. Tested today and it took less than 30 seconds for the connection to be established. (Has Swisscom changed anything?) Regardless, I have reached the end of my dreams 🙂
In the meantime, I also tested the CH version on all possible lines. And as all contributors previously stated the following (summary of everything so far):
7390CH runs with:
- ADSL Annex A (analog)
- ADSL Annex B (ISDN)
- VDSL Annex A (analog)
7390CH does not work with:
- VDSL Annex B (ISDN) –> all other functions of the box (DECT, telephony,… of course work perfectly because they are independent of the modem)
7390DE runs with:
- ADSL Annex B (ISDN)
- VDSL Annex B (ISDN) –> since today!
Of course, 7390DE does not work on analogue connections (Annex A) –> all other functions of the box (DECT, telephony,… of course also work perfectly here, as they are independent of the modem)
So: 75% of users will be happy with the CH version (ADSL analog and ISDN and VDSL analog).
The remaining 25% (those plagued with VDSL ISDN) will be much happier with the German version (of course also available in Switzerland and usually referred to as 7390DE) - thanks to ever more up-to-date firmware (haha, everyone with a CH box, we already have it Firmware 84.04.86, and it’s damn sexy!:smileytongue:
I think AVM will very soon deliver new firmware to everyone who is now sitting on a 7390CH box, with which VDSL with Annex B will then also work.
Have patience everyone! :smileyhappy:
P.S. Many thanks to all contributors (especially those above) for your help and effort!
@Herby: You’re right!:smileyvery-happy: I just don’t understand Maddemaddick, the numbers and spelling:smileywink:
By the way: The 7390CH runs with VDSL Annex B with PPPoE, i.e. with other providers.
@Herby: So there are probably only 19% (= 25% minus winning the lottery) for whom the whole thing is a problem… ^^
Well, that’s little consolation for me too. Even if it probably affects less than 10% of 7390 users, since not everyone has an ISDN Anschluss. I don’t know the market shares either, but since it affects me, it really bothers me, especially since I’ve been waiting eagerly for this part for over 2 years, and with the 7570 it worked on all connections, I felt like a little child I was happy in front of the X-Max-Tree when I knew that the package had arrived home.
And then such a sh…
Well, let’s see how the AVM maneuvers its way out of this:

So, based on analyzes (including yours), we were able to narrow down the problem.
I can currently provide you with an instant solution. do not offer - further tests must first confirm the result and the corresponding change.
As soon as the solution is available (this will result in a new firmware), this firmware can be downloaded.
I would like to apologize to you for the circumstances on behalf of the AVM and ask you for a little patience - the solution is almost here.
Whatever FAST means?……chz-chz-chz-chz……
Just to give some quick feedback…
A few days ago I received complete instructions from AVM support on how to create support files (if anyone is interested in the details [here](http://www.ip-phone-forum.de/showpost.php?p =1614206&postcount=43) a link). I struggled with it for a few hours and gave it up after the 3rd hour and the 5th attempt regarding the DSL diagnostic data… It just didn’t want to work: The dsldata.dsl file kept only containing “cat : can’t open ‘/var/dsl/diagnose/*’: No such file or directory”
Has anyone else tried this creation? Did it work for you (CH-A FB 7390 with only “outdated” firmware 83)?
Since I don’t receive any notifications of new posts with this forum software (and I always have problems posting myself), I just stopped by again today. Everything has now been confirmed as I (unfortunately) suspected from the beginning… 😞
What dismays me is how AVM is proceeding. Grrrrr… First of all, it’s only been 9 months since they finally release a box for the Swiss market and then it doesn’t even work for VDSL(2) Annex B even though the German box is apparently already running with the newer f/w 86. Secondly, the AVM support department communicates pretty much nothing and forces users (like me) to test the whole thing even though they are already well informed that it doesn’t work. And I’m not talking about the hours of zero exercises I did to try to install the latest firmware version on the CH-A-FB. There is not a word on the AVM website about the fact that the latest firmware does not work for this model!:smileymad::smileymad: And last but not least, I could also mention that I asked AVM specifically and in detail BEFORE purchasing whether VDSL (2) would work with Annex B here. The answer was YES. So my first experiences with Fritz material were excellent…
Then a quick technical note: It looks like the VDSL2-ISDN (Annex B) runs with PPPoA encapsulation (apparently not like Annex A). I wonder if there are additional options available in the access settings in the new 86 f/w, i.e. the possibility of specifying an account + password AND PPPoA (LLC, I suspect). With the old f/w 83 it’s just not possible (at least in the GUI.) Can someone answer or, even better, post a screenshot of the relevant settings?! 🙂
It still occurs to me that you can’t choose between DHCP (WAN side) or fixed IP AND account + password. Is it different in the new f/w? (NB: It definitely doesn’t matter whether DHCP is used in the LAN or not.)
Like the others, I’m now waiting for the new f/w… 😕
Voilà, here are the screenshots with the .86 firmware of the DE version.
So it looks exactly the same as the CH.83
“I wonder if there are additional options available in the access settings in the new 86 f/w, i.e. the possibility of specifying an account + password AND PPPoA (LLC, I suspect).”
--> You can also do that with the.83 firmware, it looks exactly the same. “Expert view” activated? (under System >> View) Then that works.
“It still occurs to me that you can’t choose between DHCP (WAN side) or fixed IP AND account + password.”
--> The box with PPPoE does not receive the IP (whether it is fixed or not) through your input, but through the provider during the registration process. So if you log in with an account and password and have “purchased” a fixed IP, then the box will receive this when you log in. The IP is then visible at "Internet >> Online Monitor. With RFC1483/RFC2684 you have to set your fixed IP yourself (see screenshot). But with Swisscom you configure according to the Peoplephone sheet anyway, so you don’t have these problems at all …
“(NB: It definitely doesn’t matter whether DHCP is used in the LAN or not.)”
--> correct 🙂
And yes, AVM is a bit lame when it comes to Switzerland, and they apparently realized too late that some people in Switzerland have Swisscom as a provider and that you should test that beforehand… But don’t bury your head in the sand , there will probably be a firmware update coming very soon, AVM can’t be interested in annoying customers. And if the Fritzbox ever works for you, then your second experience with Fritz material will be excellent… I’ve been using a Fritzbox for over 4 years (first 7170, then 7570, now 7390), and I would never give more in life. Certainly not against a Swisscom Centro Grande… ^^
Greetings and have a nice weekend!
The 7390 also causes problems in Germany (only Annex B!):

@mynameisthase
Thank you for the screenshots!! 🙂
So in fact there are no GUI differences at all in this area between the f/w.83 and .86.
Now I’m just wondering whether you have selected the option ‘Access data is required’ or the other option ‘Access data is NOT required’ for the VDSL(2) over ISDN connection that works with your box (D-FB Annex B)? I suspect with credentials and PPPoA/LLC. Correctly?
>>… the box with PPPoE does not receive the IP (whether it is fixed or not) through your input, but rather through the provider during the registration process. So if you log in with an account and password and have “purchased” a fixed IP, then the box will receive this when you log in.<<
As far as I know, the principle also works on the WAN side (DSL) in exactly the same way as on the LAN, i.e. either you enter a specific (fixed) IP yourself or you have it obtained from a DHCP server. Of course, under certain circumstances the server can assign the same one over and over again, but this is rather an exception (like with Swisscom).
>>With Swisscom you configure according to the Peoplephone sheet anyway, then you don’t have these problems at all…<<
The option WITHOUT access data is selected there, which is NOT possible with VDSL (and ADSL) at Swisscom because the access data is absolutely necessary. Or have I completely misunderstood something?!?…
Yes, let’s wait and see (what else is there to do other than swap the CH-A-FB for a D)… 🙂
Thanks
Hello everyone
I have a quick question: I use the Swisscom product Infinity (analog). I don’t have BluewinTV and won’t have one either. Can I easily operate an FB 7390 CH version on this Anschluss instead of the Swisscom device? I’m assuming Infinity is VDSL and not ADSL, right?
Thank you very much for your help.

It seems that the FB7390CH runs without any problems on a Swisscom analog VDSL Anschluss. It doesn’t matter whether with or without Swisscom TV.
In the early days of Infinity it was partly connected with ADSL, but for about 2 years I have only known of switched VDSL connections with Infinity

YES, it runs without any problems. Whether VDSL or ADSL analogue. Simply configure according to Peoplefone instructions. The instructions/settings are for the 7570, but that doesn’t matter, they are the same.
Have fun with the part.

@BlueDragon:
With Swisscom-VDSL you don’t need any access data.
Ergo: Access data is NOT required –> everything according to the Peoplephone sample config (you can add anything to the DHCP host name).
As far as I know, Swisscom has PPPoE for ADSL connections, so you would need the access data there.
You will also receive a fixed IP from your provider, which you cannot simply choose freely.
Imagine the Internet as a LAN: What if 2 people had the same IP? Chaos. 🙂
But because the addresses are slowly running out anyway, IPv6 will soon come along, which is already fully supported by the Fritzbox.
Greetings and have a nice evening everyone!
