For me, outgoing calls to landlines and mobile networks also work perfectly with Infinity! Great thing! šŸ™‚

Questions:

- Where should I send bug reports so that they are guaranteed to be read?

- What is the expected behavior when calling from an iO with Infinity to another Swisscom cell phone that also has iO? When is the call routed to OK and when does the ā€œnormalā€ mobile network ring? I hadn’t used iO on a prepaid cell phone for a while, and when I called it from my Infinity iO, the normal cell phone network rang. How long is the ā€œtimeoutā€ after iO is not used until the calls go to the normal mobile network?

@ManuCH

You are welcome to publish your bug reports here. We read the blog regularly.

When making a call from the iO app to another user who also has iO installed, the following applies, regardless of when the person being called last used the app:

  • If you tap the handset symbol, the call will be established IP to IP (i.e. over the Internet).
  • When you tap on a phone number, the call is set up IP to PSTN (i.e. first over the Internet and then over the telephone network).
  • Chats are transferred from iO to iO

When making a call from the iO app to a contact who does not have the iO app installed, the following applies:

  • The call is always set up IP to PSTN
  • Chats are delivered as SMS

I hope this information helps you.

@Michael Guys,

here is my first bug report:

Sometimes it happens that after a call the app stops responding at all for several seconds. It behaves as follows:

- I’m making a call (whether on VoIP or PSTN)

- I hang up

- The contact information screen appears normally

- If I now want to click anything else (e.g. call again, or another screen like Contacts or Keypad) nothing happens. I can also no longer exit the app using the iPhone’s ā€œHomeā€ button. The ā€œPowerā€ button does not respond

It’s like when for some reason after a call the app uses 100% of the CPU for something. This takes about 10-20 seconds, then it responds normally again.

The app never crashes - it ā€œrevivesā€ itself as soon as the ā€œfreezeā€ is over. It’s hard to reproduce because it doesn’t happen after every call, but only every now and then. But the problem has occurred several times - with a little patience it should be reproducible.

I use an iPhone 5 with iOS 6.1.4. I have a relatively large number of contacts (over 700) because I have synchronized my Facebook account into my iPhone section. Ev. Could this cause problems if the app ā€œscansā€ the contacts every now and then? However, that is just a guess.

@ all - Registration problems with the iO app

************************* ************************* ********

Error message ā€œPlease try again laterā€

We were able to follow some cases closely and in almost all cases the users had emoticons integrated into their device names. This results in an error message. On the iPhone you can find the device name under -> Settings -> General -> Info -> Name. Users who deleted the emoticon from the device name were then able to register without any problems. Please try this and give us feedback accordingly.

That was exactly the solution! Thank you very much!

Interesting. I thought all the data was processed in Switzerland?

I also saw the passage in the terms and conditions at the beginning. But I don’t think it’s bad because it doesn’t involve customer data.

OK - safety

*****************

All user data such as first name, last name, avatar, telephone number, telephone numbers called, chat content, etc. remain in Switzerland and are stored securely on Swisscom servers unless necessary for operation or required by law. No data is sent abroad that allows conclusions to be drawn about a person or a conversation or a chat.

To improve the app and for statistical purposes, certain usage data is collected and evaluated. These are finally listed in the terms of use. To do this, we work with the companies Localytics and Crittersism,

All of this usage data is anonymous and does not allow any conclusions to be drawn about individuals. The articles mentioned, especially the statement ā€œthe used keysā€ are misleading and incorrect. Not even we ourselves can draw any conclusions about people based on the statistics.

Here is the relevant passage from the terms of use:

For this app, the customer gives his consent for Swisscom to track or evaluate his usage behavior within the app (e.g. which page is generally accessed and how often). With the exception of the IP address, this is done in an anonymous form.

The customer further agrees that the following data will be collected and evaluated for the purpose of support and the development of improvement measures:

  • the device used by the customer (including manufacturer and device model)

  • the browser used by the customer and the browser language

  • the operating system used by the customer

  • the IP location (country and region) and IP address

  • whether the customer allows cookies or not

  • Feedback category and date and time

@Michi Erb

This exact sentence makes me angry. Because it’s not true. This was written by the SDA and adopted uncritically by the press.

What is correct is that it is recorded how, for example, a user starts the app, first goes to contacts, then looks at a contact detail, then makes a chat, goes to the chronicle and then leaves the app. Or in other words, which ā€œscreensā€ he taps on in the app. Neither more nor less.

No entries are recorded via the (virtual) keyboard.

Even if everything with the data is correct (and I don’t care anyway)…isn’t it (another) unfortunate decision/episode with this whole iO app?

I have now uninstalled it on both devices

@Michael Guys

Then I would correct this with the press as quickly as possible. because this does not spread a good reputation through the APP

It doesn’t matter now. Swisscom has brought a huge flop onto the market here. Of my 560 contacts (professional and private), around 30% have the app installed. In the last week, two contacts were online once.

A few interested people try out the app and wonder what it’s all about. Why half of them don’t work, why you can’t register and still can’t call all the numbers. Anyone who has successfully made a call will ask themselves what the poor call quality is all about.

The fact that data is sent without questions to improve user-friendliness is really audacious! It’s also very stupid for Swisscom to send these abroad at this point in time. There are also companies in Switzerland. And would be much more trustworthy for many.

Conclusion: iO is not used by anyone. The few remaining users are deleting the app today.

I actually completely agree with you. But Swisscom will certainly soon publish strange statistics again about how many registered users they have and how often the app is used.

Since I have already deleted my apps: would there actually have been a function to officially log out? Or am I still a registered user?

Maybe something positive about that, if that’s interesting:

Let’s assume I have an Infinity and a Natel Data subscription. I can NOT make calls with the Natel Data subscription. With the IO app I can make calls with the Natel Data subscription with the number that I have for the Inifity subscription…
