TV program Silverlight

How did Swisscom come up with the idea of realizing the television program with Silverlight????????

As a Linux user, this means for me: no more television programs online!

Has Swisscom already heard that there is something other than Windows?

There is now the STANDARD HTML5. You wouldn’t have to use all this Flash and Silverlight nonsense anymore. So why the hell is Swisscom switching to Silverlight, a technology that has never been really widespread and never will be!

I’m quoting micro here:

AFAIK, the decision for Silverlight was made primarily because of the adaptive streaming, which no other technology offers. offered at the time of the technology decision…

By the way, the sound makes the music.

I don’t understand the point of using Silverlight either. I also don’t understand why Swisscom doesn’t use HTML5 here.

Nevertheless: Doesn’t the guide work with Moonlight?

Swisscom works very closely with Microsoft, Microsoft also has a lot at TV-Box, so it could be obvious that Microsoft software is used.

That’s my opinion! :smileywink:

No Moonlight doesn’t work. That’s why I also have to do without the PC version of the TV guide. But then I just use the app on my smartphone.

And what Warren quoted is still true: HTML 5 is not yet at the stage where all of Tvonline’s needs can be covered.

@Linuxuser: silverlight is not new to use at Swisscom TV. Sas has been like this AFAIR for at least 2 years.

Hello everyone

But another question from a Linux user…sorry 🙂

According to the SL article on the English Wikipedia, Silverlight will not be further developed. Things look even bleaker with Mono/Moonlight, the project has been discontinued. What does it look like now? Will there still be a Swisscom TV solution without SL?

Thank you and have a nice day.

I assume that alternative technologies will be used at some point. But as far as I know, Swisscom has not yet announced anything on the subject, so it remains to be seen whether/when that will be the case.

Until then this could:

be an alternative. If anyone tries it out, it would be nice to communicate the results here 🙂

Who knows, maybe something will come out for Swisscom TV…

That wouldn’t be of any use to the OP, he wants to consume the service on the PC and that doesn’t matter what operating system the box is running on.
