Change Internet-Box 2 to Internet-Box 3 | no internet

  • Hello community

Yesterday I wanted to change the Internet-Box 2 (IB2) to Internet-Box 3 (IB3). I made numerous adjustments to the IB2. I created a backup of the IB2 configuration locally and on the Kundencenter (IP address of the IB2 does not correspond to 192.168.1.1).

    My approach

    • IB2 swapped for IB3 and turned on

    • logged in via 192.168.1.1

    • Configuration restored from local

      > no internet! LED lights up permanently red

Reset the IB3, repeated the procedure, no internet!

    IB2 reconnected, everything OK.

Am I doing something wrong or Can someone explain to me what the exact procedure is? So simply replacing IB2 with IB3 and the configuration is transferred automatically doesn’t seem to work. Thank you very much for your efforts.

    Stay healthy and greetings

A workaround that doesn’t always work:

Turn off the old router and then turn it on again. Wait until everything is online again. Then switch off the old router again and put the new router into operation.

In general, the problem is being worked on at full speed.

    @sw4you

If I were you, I would first simply connect the Internet-Box 3 and wait until it is connected to the Internet and only then copy the backups back.

Have you tried connecting using the link below?

N.b. I always create the backup on my own PC and then restore the backup from there, i.e. not from Kundencenter.

A box change can currently take up to 1 hour until the LED turns white. (problem in the infrastructure)

    I experienced it myself…

    Wait 1x longer…

With the measurement at 11:52 I see the IB3 on the net. So be patient and identify yourself via the registration page and you should be fine.

    Hello everyone

    Small interim report:

I connected the IB3 as recommended and will now wait and see.

    @Anonymous

Nice that you see my IB3. It has been flashing red/white for over an hour now, which means that it is receiving something from SC.

    I’ll wait until 2 p.m. now.

I see that the IB2 is back. You should discuss the problem with the hotline, you didn’t do anything wrong, but something is wrong.

Yep, that’s it. I couldn’t get the IB3 to work for the life of me. That’s why I switched back to the IB2.

I will tackle the issue with the hotline after Pentecost.

    Thanks for your support.

The router change has been weak for over a week, but apparently they haven’t found the problem in the back end yet.

I would recommend that you start the whole thing again in the evening before you go to bed and then check again in the morning to see whether it worked.

I myself have decided not to change routers for the time being until Swisscom finds the error in the registration function and then gives the all-clear again.

With a little patience, a change is still possible. In the worst case it takes 1 hour.

During this time you can’t do anything to the boxes, just wait.

    Hello everyone

I tried to implement all the tips. Unfortunately unsuccessful. IB2 swapped for IB3 the day before yesterday at 11 p.m. I did a reset beforehand. The next morning at 7 a.m. the box was still flashing red/white. No matter, PC connected and I landed on the Swisscom welcome page. I then identified myself using the Swisscom login and received the message “Internet access successfully set up”. After “Complete” the message “Error: Network timeout” appears. The same procedure was done again with identification via serial number. Unfortunately same problem. Importing my configuration file didn’t help either. The IB3 cannot find an internet signal.

Now I will probably have to contact support. But I’ll wait for a rainy day.

    Thank you for your support!

This has been going on for 3-4 weeks now and on www.swisscom.ch/stoerung or [www.swisscom.ch/status](http://www .swisscom.ch/status) still yawning emptiness…. worrying…

Are router changes so rare or does it hurt too little to publish a report or do you not want to place too many trouble reports?….. 😉 (Bad for publicity)

    Hello everyone

It may also be useful to do this before you connect the new router. Because Anschluss should be left offline for 1h.

    Hello community

After numerous, unsuccessful attempts to replace my IB2 with the IB3, I found time today to contact the hotline. Technician saw the IB3. But the LED only lights up red/white. This is a good sign, IB3 is receiving configuration. After I explained to him that this had always been the case and that it didn’t work overnight, he must have adjusted something because after a RESET, what a miracle, the LED lights up white. Of course, I then had to assign a new password for the IB3 and was able to restore my configuration file.

    Now the IB3 is running

Conclusion: To save time, contact the hotline earlier.

Thank you for your tips and support!

Since there are probably still registration problems, it has been mentioned several times in the community that the easiest way is to contact the hotline.

The hotline can only help to a limited extent, sometimes you also need 2nd level support, I’ve experienced this twice.

Since the 2nd level is only accessible on weekdays, you shouldn’t change a box on the weekend at the moment.

    Salute!

Have all your settings been applied correctly? Without necessary post-processing?
I have also adjusted a few things + telephones are registered on the IB2.

20 years ago I found it interesting to type everything myself; I’ve done enough of that in the meantime 😉

    Thanks
