blue TV no recordings viewable via browser

  • Hello, my dears

    I have the following problem:

For 2 days I have only been able to watch “live” via browser on Blue TV, using recordings and replay is not possible and is punished with the following error message:

    Oh no, an error occurred

Unfortunately, your browser cannot play protected TV content or purchased or rented videos (films, series or sports events). This can have the following reasons:

    - incompatible browser: please use another browser.
    - one or more components of your system do not support DRM/HDCP 2.0 protection: remove this component from your system.

Briefly: I didn’t change the browser and didn’t change anything else. I use Microsoft Edge by default, but based on the advice I also tried with IE and Chrome, nothing… to be honest, I don’t understand the rest of the error message, which is why I just tried changing the browser 😉

Do you have a tip for the blonde?

Kind regards and thank you very much

Thank you very much for the information. However, it is not yet clear why the DRM limitation has only been applied to certain users for a few days. Has anything changed regarding DRM?

According to my clarifications, the channel was activated on April 6th. DRM encryption (Digital Rrealmanagement), for use on the web and TV app, is activated on 20 additional channels. Swisscom therefore meets the licensor’s legal requirements.

Digital rights management is a type of copy protection that does not prevent copying, but is intended to control the use (and distribution) of digital media. With blue TV Air, the DRM affects all channels that are transmitted in encrypted form. This includes all subscribed premium channels such as blue+, Sport Events and blue Video, but also channels that are included in the normal Swisscom lineup such as AXN, Discovery Channel, Vox, etc..

In order to play the content, the entire playback chain must support DRM.

    thanks for asking

The Tagesschau example actually works, apparently “only” certain films and especially recordings.

It works via the app on my Samsung, if that should be comparable

Strange… after a bit of “trying around” with my recordings it is, for example. so that I have 2 film recordings from April 1st, 2022… 1x R.E.D. and 1x The Rock

R.E.D. spits out the error message

    The Rock is on

    mmmhhhh?!

I’ve never noticed it, but I don’t often use Blue TV via browser either. It is quite possible that DRM-protected content cannot be played this way, but only via TV-Box. Maybe someone else here in the forum can provide more detailed information so that it doesn’t just remain speculation.

The Rock (TV24) and R.E.D. (Pro 7) from last week work perfectly for me in replay on the PC.

I use Chrome browser with default settings without plug-ins under Win11 without additional security software (except for the Defender integrated in the OS).

If necessary, you will have to open a problem ticket on Tel. 0800 800 800, but if this is a local problem on your PC and no other customers are affected, you will not be able to get any further from the helpdesk.

Instead of doing a lot of research to set everything in an existing browser to default without deleting usual functions, it is easier to install an additional browser or set up a virtual machine on the PC as a test environment.

This message has been coming since yesterday: Why is this happening and how can I fix it?

In addition, this message only appears on certain channels, e.g. proSieben, but I can watch the film on 3+.

    - one or more components of your system do not support DRM/HDCP 2.0 protection: remove this component from your system.

What I’ve already tried but didn’t lead to a solution:

    - Tried all browsers from Chrome, Firefox, Edge, Explorer to Opera. None worked at all.

    - HDCP 2.0 is active in Firefox, so that can’t be the problem

    - Uninstalled and reinstalled all browsers

    - NVIDIA graphics card driver updated

    - Monitor display port cable replaced (only one monitor is connected, Samsung G9 Odyssey).

    - Windows 10 updates carried out

In my opinion there are only 3 options:

    1. Incompatibilities due to the PC/browser, plug-ins, advertising blocks, security software, drivers,…

    2. Contractual blocks for copy protection

    3. A technical malfunction at Swisscom

Ultimately, only Swisscom can answer which of these three cases applies. At best, it would make sense if everyone affected reported the problem to support (Tel. 0800 800 800). The more reports about a problem, the higher the priority will be.

    Hello everyone,

I’m also at a loss and, if I’m honest, a bit annoyed.

Certain mechanisms have worked for years and suddenly there is a “pause” in broadcasting without prior notice.

I’ve also been having this problem for a few days now.

In addition to the laptop screen, I have an external VGA monitor.

As soon as this is active, even if it is only activated as “extended” (Windows 10), playback of the above-mentioned content is no longer possible. Not even on the laptop screen.

If I only need the laptop’s internal screen (and the VGA is unplugged or set to “PC screen only” in the system), all playback works perfectly.

I can recreate this behavior on several devices with the latest EDGE or Chrome browsers.

I’ve needed the second screen on the side away from the laptop for years during my training so that I don’t always have to disconnect all devices. Or just while surfing on the main screen.

It’s a shame, it doesn’t seem possible to watch TV anymore at the moment.

    Hello everyone

Video on demand, live sports events and encrypted channels cannot be played on some computers, monitors or tablets. The reason for this is the lack of digital rights management support on the devices. In order for all content to be played, the browser must support DRM and all components (monitor, cable, graphics card) must be HDCP 2.0 capable.

    Greetings Samuel

And how can I now watch TV via the browser?

That’s exactly why I got the TV subscription.

It looks like I’ll have to cancel it because it’s no longer of any use to me if I can no longer watch TV via the browser.
