Unable to send email with Outlook and Android

  • Hello. I have Outlook on my Android phone. Even after completely reinstalling my @bluewin account, I get an error message when sending. First “Message sent” appears, then the error message appears. PW checked and correct, receiving works. Outlook support referred me to my provider. There are two error messages in the appendix. One came when the account was newly set up. When you clicked on login you continued. The second concerns the problem mentioned. Does anyone know about that?

    • The great trick is not to use this app for data protection reasons. But in the case of Bluewin, it’s superfluous anyway. So for those who are interested…

Use the advanced settings slider when setting up your account.

Fill in the user name (user@bluewin.ch) and the password on both the receiving server and the sending server. That would mean filling out everything correctly, counted twice. Then the facility can be checked and it would work.

Thank you for the answer. I have already deleted the account from the Outlook app several times (option: “Delete from all mobile devices”) and reinstalled it. You can see the settings below. I don’t see what’s wrong with that. As I said: Receiving works without any problems, sending doesn’t work at all.

Is it normal for the message to appear when setting up: “No secure connection is available. Do you still want to log in?”

There are also fewer setting options in the app than on the PC. For example, I couldn’t set “SSL”.

What could be the reason why the Mals don’t go out? I am grateful for further information.

I had the same problem on the tablet. My husband, who is a computer scientist, didn’t know what to do either. He then advised me to install K9 as an alternative. Works well so far.

    @Anonymous

After filling out the advanced settings based on your information, it actually worked. Thank you!

(I didn’t realize that the entire email address was needed; the example in the app is misleading. I also didn’t know what was meant by IMAP password and SMTP password.)

    Hello everyone

I have the same problem, I can no longer send emails from my @bluewin.ch account in Outlook on my cell phone and I don’t know exactly what your solution should look like. I’m really just a user and need precise instructions to get my email address @bluewin.ch up and running again. I have a Samsung Galaxy S9.

Where do I have to enter what exactly? Swisscom’s instructions are too imprecise. But my servers should be fine. I’ve already reset that.

Can you @Tux0ne or someone else maybe help me?

Another note on the side: the other email addresses (not bluewin) work perfectly in Outlook on my cell phone. By the way, I don’t have any other Swisscom products, just this one email address.

    Meeeerci!

      Hello TuxOne / Hello everyone

@Anonymous: Thanks again for your detailed instructions for setting up the @bluewin.ch email account in Outlook on my Samsung Galaxy cell phone. Have you published these detailed instructions for all visitors to this forum? It was great, but I also had to change the password.

Important: I followed your instructions exactly for setting up a @bluewin.ch email account in Outlook on my Samsung Galaxy and under the advanced settings:

both at the input server and at the output server respectively

      - Username = full email address

      - Password = email password (NOT Swisscom login password)

      entered.

But the problem remained at first. POSSIBLE SOLUTION:

I then thought that Outlook might not be able to handle a password with special characters (I had one) and so I simplified the password for the email (only letters (uppercase and lowercase) and numbers). The installation of the @bluewin.ch account in Outlook on my cell phone has now worked and I can send emails again.

@ChrisX: If you have a complex password (with special characters) for the email, can you see if you can adapt it (without special characters) and then try again to see if it works with the TuxOne instructions?

      Nice afternoon.

      Best regards,

      Themis

      Maybe to clarify again:

The email password is NOT the same as the password used for webmail login….

When accessing webmail, you enter the Swisscom login password and it is often assumed that this is the email password - but that is not the case…

As a test, I installed the Blumail app. Everything worked straight away.

I actually only want Outlook because I have this app on every PC and therefore have the sent messages synchronized from everywhere and from every device.

But that basically has nothing to do with the mail client, but rather how it is connected. IMAP is used for this. You can definitely be on the PC with Outlook, in the office with Thunderbird and on the cell phone with the cell phone’s own mail client, and the mail account will still remain synchronous on all three devices.

This only applies to the inbox. However, this statement does not apply to the “Sent Messages” folder. I just tested it. Sent from my PC via Outlook with my email address. With Bluemail, however, this message does not appear in the sent messages folder.

Yes, that’s true. I tested it yesterday before my post.

      - Outlook installed on my Samsung S8 according to the instructions above

      - sent an email about it

      - sent email is in the “Sent” folder in Outlook on the Samsung

      - In webmail, this message can also be found in the “Sent” folder, just a few seconds after sending.

All this with standard mail clients, without having to adjust the folder assignment locally. So it already works.

Another thing to consider when assigning IMAP folders in Bluewin is that the “Sent Items” folder is now called “Sent items”….

Nope, that no longer applies to me when it comes to outgoing emails.

I had to reassign the folder to “Sent Items” on both the iPhone and Outlook.
