Einfacher leben dank Smart Home

Make life easier with a smart home

Robot vacuum cleaner, energy-saving switch or WLAN camera: today, one in three Swiss households has at least one smart device – and the number is rising. Discover the benefits of a smart home in this article.

[Smart accessories](http:/Users/joelviottiswisscom/Downloads/swisscom.ch/en/residential/products/smart-home.html?stch=plp&ing=ptl-device-first&simplyDigital=true&journey=device-first) can help you save energy, simplify housekeeping and make your home safer.

Save power with smart plugs

Even in standby mode, many devices continue to consume power. The devices of an average household consume enough electricity in standby mode in a year to power a TV for about 150 days non-stop.

If you connect your devices to a smart plug such as the myStrom WiFi Switch Zero instead of directly to the socket, you can control your devices via your mobile phone. You can operate your switch and decide when devices should automatically switch on or off in the myStrom App. This saves valuable energy while at the same time lightening the load on your wallet and helping the environment.

Do you have smart devices in your home already? What won you over? We look forward to your comments!

Hello everyone

Unfortunately you cannot control the Swisscom Box via the Google Assistant and you cannot add the box anywhere. So you always have to think about which device you want to talk to. In my opinion, Salt has the better concept when it comes to Smart Home. Hopefully there will be a solution for this soon.

Greetings

To put the buzzword “save electricity” into perspective a little: According to [this source](https://www.swisscom.ch/de/privatkunden/zusatzleistungs/unterstuetzung-service/energie-verbrauch.html#tab1=heimvernetzung&tab =smartswitch) itself 0.9 to 1.4 watts, which according to the [EU Directive](https://ec.europa.eu/info/energy-climate-change-environment/standards-tools-and-labels/products-labelling-rules-and-requirements/energy-label-and- ecodesign/energy-efficient-products/mode-standby-and-networked-standby_de) in the off state corresponds to the maximum permitted power consumption of almost two devices in standby mode.

This means that a “smart switch” that only serves one device uses more energy than the connected device would use in standby. With two switched devices it is a zero-sum game at best, with three switched devices or more energy savings can actually occur, provided that the switched devices are all at the upper limit (0.5 W) of the EU directive.

@Anonymous

That’s exactly why my switches are made of mechanical power strips and the only people who are smart are the ones who press the button and, thanks to the movement, save on their gym membership.

Hey @ElCorto thanks for your contribution! The Swisscom Box has a Farflied microphone and is called “Hey Swisscom ” even woken up without a remote control. If you have a Swisscom Box you can also control Smart Home in this way. We are aware that this is still a limiting factor due to the connection to the box and we are currently examining options to make the Smart Home skill more accessible.

Best regards,

Claudio from the Home App team
