Internet Box: 5GHz channel does not remain at the set value

  • Hello dear community.

The Internet box does not retain the setting for the 5GHz channel. I manually set the channel to channel 108. However, this always switches back to channel 60 at irregular intervals.

The channel from the 2.4GHz band remains permanently on the channel 8 I set.

This is quite tedious because I connected my second TV-Box via WiFi and it only works with the higher channels.

Does anyone have any idea what this could be?

    Thank you in advance.

    Simon

For WLAN channels 52 to 140, the use of DFS in WLAN access points (e.g. Swisscom Internetbox) is required by law in Switzerland. See also:

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_WLAN_channels

When using DFS, the WLAN access point listens for radio signals from weather radars on the current WLAN channel. If a radio signal is received from a weather radar (e.g. on WLAN channel 108), the WLAN access point switches to a weather radar-free WLAN channel (e.g. WLAN channel 60) for security reasons.

Operating a WLAN access point without DFS on the 5 GHz WLAN channels is illegal and endangers the safety of numerous aircraft passengers. Operating a WLAN access point without DFS on the 5 GHz WLAN channels can result in a fine of up to 6 figures!

That’s why it’s “vitally important” that the country selection (=> CH - Switzerland) is correct when using a WLAN access point! See also:

OK. Thanks for the detailed answers.
And in short, that even laypeople like me understand it: That’s how it is because that’s how it is. Correctly? The layperson can have the feeling that something is going crazy if a setting you make is always different.

I think you can consider this topic closed.

    Thanks
