How to configure UniFi Dream Machine Pro for 10GBE Swisscom Internet

Switching across to 10G Swisscom from a different 1G Fibre provider. So need to replace current Unifi Security Gateway 3 with a UniFi Dream Machine Pro as gateway/router.

I think I need to do the following but please can someone with experience keep me honest:

1) Purchase a Nokia XS-010X-Q (XGS-PON-Bridge) and use the Swisscom supplied cable to connect from ONT (Optical Network Terminal) to PON socket on Nokia XS-010X-Q

2) Connect Ethernet port on the Nokia XS-010X-Q (XGS-PON-Bridge) to UniFi Dream Machine Pro (UDM) using SFP+ compatible 10 Gbps Direct Attach Cable - Any recommendations?

3) Register the MAC address of the UDP on the website www.swisscom.ch/start.

4) Configure following on UDM

VLAN ID 10
DHCP Option 60

You’ll need to connect Nokia to the Dream Machine using Ethernet cable (cat. 6a or better).

@bitracer When connecting the Nokia Bridge to Dream Machine using RJ45 cable does this mean the RJ45 Cable should be connected to the 10G SFP+ WAN Port using RJ45/ SFP+ Module such as UACC-CM-RJ45-MG?

With their being no place to purchase a Nokia XS-010X-Q (XGS-PON-Bridge) I am looking for alternatives (fast) - any one using or tried to use the Centro business router in passthrough mode?

There’s another model from Zyxel that can be bridged. Check out the compatibility list. It’s a bit of a waste since it also has WLAN that you won’t be using.

More broad question, why do you insist on using UniFi? Wouldn’t IB4 with WLAN-Box(es) do for you?

I’ll refer to the list again. It’s quite limited and purchasing the Wi-Fi would be a waste plus risk if it were inadvertently turned on.
I have an extensive lab for work which I need to have a good firewall and I’ve a lot of unifi configuration including Vlans and VPN users I need to maintain and keep.

Hello - I moved across to Swisscom and got set up with the IB4. I currently have the 1 GBE connection but am being migrated across to 10GBE later tonight.

Now I have a UDM Pro and have connected it to the ONT through a 1 GBE fiber media converter (TP-LINK MC-220L).

I have configured VLAN 10 and DHCP Option 60 and cloned the MAC Address of the IB4 on to the UDM Pro.

These settings seem to physically connect the UDM Pro to the Swisscom network.

I go to: https://swisscom.ch/start and this eventually redirect me to:

https://www.swisscom.ch/splashpage/guest/app/AccessId/en

Here an Activation Code (6 digits) needs to be entered however calling Swisscom Tech Support they do not know of such a code.

Any ideas on how to proceed?

It looks like your line has already been migrated to P2MP. I would suggest to attach the IB4 and configure it.

You won’t be able to use the TP-LINK MC-220L anyway. Why bother trying to configure it? You should have stuck with 1Gbps line P2P if that was an option that was available at your location.

The idea to use the TP-Link today was to get the UDM Pro online, configured and ready and then switch the TP-LINK around with the Nokia once the line has been upgraded.

I don’t think the line has been converted to P2MP at this stage.

If I run OTO-ID check I get:

Which I believe means the line is not P2MP

Ok, my mistake: when setting up with the TPLink I had set the DHCP Option 60 incorrectly when set it to “100008,0001” with VLAN Id 10 and the cloned MAC of IB4 I was immediately online.

Looking for further assistance…. My connection has been upgraded this lunch time to 10 Gbit/s

I am connected with the “red optical fibre cable” to Nokia bridge and from the there with Cat 6a cable to port 10 on UDM Pro (SFP+ / RJ45 adapter in place)

The settings for the connection are as shown:

The XGS-PONS bridge has the Data LED a constant blue color. No error light.

The Primary WAN appears to have been assigned a IPv4 address. But no connection.

Any idea what might be missing… connection was working ok previously via TPLINK Fibre Converter at 1 Gbit/s speed….

I would check the Nokia config. Maybe it’s not set in bridged mode. Did you also set the VLAN 10?

Good idea will check @bitracer - wasn’t aware that there was any management to be done to the Nokia device.

Do you know of there being a web interface? Arp doesn’t seem to provide me back with any IP address …. No physical buttons or switches as far as I can tell. The device didn’t come with any docs either so I’ve been suspecting its simply a bridging device…
