I don’t get re-routed nor can resolve swisscom.ch/start to register.

Yes!
Got there finally - I plugged the IB4 back in and then restarted everything and replugged everything and then got redirected to the SWC registration page.
Thanks @bitracer - very appreciate the assistance!
Above is the speed I’m getting with UDM Pro Traffic Identification turned OFF.
Is this typical “real world” from the Swisscom 10 Gbit/sec service or am I probably needing to tweak a setting somewhere?
If you want to fiddle, try to see what you get with IB4. You can also try with the firewall completely disabled.
Has any one any recent experience in the connection dropping regularly when running the Nokia XGS PONS bridge along with the UDM Pro.
It’s been working great since it was set up but last few days connection has started crawling - terrible upload speeds noted on Speedtest until the bridge has been power cycled.
Swisscom service apparently has reported no issues and I haven’t dug the IB4 out yet to compare performance.

Zyxel AX7501-B0 nicht kompatibel mit dem SFP+ XGS-… | Swisscom Community

The IB4 no longer uses SFP for XGS-PON. If the connection is still “old” and has not yet been converted, then the IB4 also needs an SFP for this. The SFPs are tested with the IB3/4 and the corresponding drivers are integrated in the software.

Zyxel: Since I would have to reprogram the EPROM in addition to buying the SFP+ module, which is probably difficult to impossible, the router is dead for me.
Nokia: That would be an option, but then I would still have to get the IPTV to work.
That’s why I’m now looking at the IB+DMZ variant…Addendum: DMZ works without problems, but my UDMpro is not compatible with the 2.5G connection.

My setup the Nokia XS-010X-Q with the UDM Pro on the 10 GBE Swisscom Large Service.
Weird thing is when I set it up it was working perfectly for a number of months but now the connection is up and down several times a day - it seems especially bad in the evening and weekends (not sure if this is coincidental or not).
I tried switching back to the IB4 today however no internet connection was possible and the engineer presumed that the IB4 had some how broken and requested I go and fetch a new one.
An hour later the new one was set up and I updated the Mac address spoof on the UDM WAN configuration and plugged the Nokia XS-010X-Q back in again and again I was back in business. However tonight the connection has been spotty.
Not sure what I am missing in terms of my configuration or whether I need to set up the UDM as a client of the IB4 and ditch the Nokia XS-010X-Q bridge.
Why wouldn’t you consider switching to all Swisscom hardware?
Hi @nickelnoff

I doubt that both your bridge and the internetbox both broke at the same time. Maybe the tip of the fibre got dusty while you switched between the boxes - try cleaning it:
If the issue persists (also while using the Swisscom Hardware), let a technician check your line.

Thanks @r00t - I’m not seeing behavior consistent with a bad optical connection since when it is working ok the throughput is great just the service tends to degrade periodically.
I think the problem might be due to the Nokia bridge overheating. The design of the box is a simple basic plastic box - fanless with no ventilation. I’m not a human thermometer but my estimates are the temps are pushing 70 degrees C.
I’ve placed a fan under and above the unit today and have taken the temps down. This might be helping but it too early to tell.
The SFP+ RJ45 adapter is also very hot

Let us know how it goes .

So far so good a world of difference. No drops and general spotty behaviour.

Question is why did Nokia design such a badly cooled device when it should have been clear that some decent fans or passive cooling was needed.
It’s a bit ridiculous having to run a device and cool it with external fans. Maybe you can replace it in warranty. Who knows, maybe a more recent hardware revision works better.
Perhaps you’re correct @bitracer it def seems pretty ridiculous not. It’s a fairly new unit though bought towards when I started this thread off. I’ll see if init7 are able to swap the device out next week and I’ll report back.
Hello everyone,
I’m also a Swisscom 10Gbit customer and have been using Ubiquiti devices for a while now. I’m planning to move to a new apartment that has in-wall wiring and Ethernet ports in every room, and I’m interested in setting up a more streamlined network infrastructure.
I’ve read the initial post about using a Nokia XS-010X-Q (XGS-PON-Bridge) and a UniFi Dream Machine Pro as a gateway/router. However, I’m curious if it’s possible to go a step further and fully rely on a Dream Wall or Dream Machine without needing any external modem like the Nokia XS-010X-Q or the Swisscom modem.
My Questions:
I understand that the initial post outlines a solution with bridging, but I’m keen to explore if there’s a way to make the setup even leaner by eliminating the need for an external modem altogether.
I’d really appreciate any insights or experiences you can share on this matter. Thank you so much for your time and help!
Best regards
Technically it’s feasible. The issue is more that Swisscom only allows certified devices in XGS-PON (P2MP) setting. Currently there are no SFP+ modules certified by Swisscom.
Thank you for your quick response and for shedding light on the certification issue with Swisscom and XGS-PON.
Given that there are no SFP+ modules currently certified by Swisscom, what would be my options if I still want to proceed with a Dream Wall or Dream Machine setup? What is your suggested configuration that could make a setup with unifi feasible, given I am not interested in Wifi/FW etc. by Swisscom?
You need a certified device that can be put in bridged mode and can do 10Gbe. Nokia is the best candidate as it’s designed specifically for this purpose.
