Zyxel AX7501-B0 as a bridge before UDM Pro

Hello everyone,

Am I really incompetent or what am I doing wrong?

I have a Zyxel AX7501-B0 to try out, I have a UDM pro directly on the 10GB LAN Anschluss. Now I want to try using the Zyxel router as a pure bridge. As soon as I switch to bridge mode, I no longer have a connection to Swisscom.

The Zyxel works problem-free as a router (including IPv6)

I tried setting Wan including option 60 etc. on the UDM Pro. However, no internet.

Does anyone have an idea?

Thank you very much for your help

As soon as you switch the Zyxel to Bridge, the downstream router must obtain the IP from Swisscom.
So switch to DHCP for the UDM WAN including DHCP option 60

IPv6 probably doesn’t work if UDM doesn’t support 6rd and that’s what it looks like.

So it’s not necessarily incompetent, but it’s certainly wrong what you’re trying to do if it doesn’t work.

Basically you have both options. Either … or. So you can also activate the VLAN on the Zyxel interface and leave it deactivated on the UDM.

Then I don’t know how long the lease period lasts. You may also need to leave some time between switching.

    Good morning,

It’s interesting, with the same settings as yesterday, everything works today. I tried again, got to the Swisscom login screen and everything is fine……..

    For whatever reason???????

Now I just need to figure out how to get IPv6 with 6rd on my UDM Pro.

Many thanks again to TuxOne for the help.

I wish you a nice week and happy holidays.

It’s actually no longer worth spending much time with 6rd, as this will be replaced by IPv6 native with prefix delegation and dual stack.

This is already being tested in the field by individual customers in the latest firmware versions:

If you use the Zyxel as a bridge, don’t you have to look for the solution on the UDM Pro?

However, I don’t know whether the following support document helps or whether it works because I don’t have my own UDM:

    @Werner

That’s how it is, it’s the interaction of both devices, but there are some values that have to be right 😅, thanks for the link, I already know it. However, this does not describe what needs to be set in interaction with the Zyxel router, keyword, IPV6 addresses on the UDM, prefix delegation size etc 😊
