Is "blue TV S" worth €14.90/month (basic fee for Netflix and Disney+)

Hi

I have no interest at all in the channels from “blue TV S”, but I am interested in Netflix and Disney+ (blue Binge). This costs a total of CHF 35 per month.

The ideal basis for all streaming enthusiasts - lots of films and series from Netflix and Disney+ at an unbeatable special price with a permanent 28% discount.

The prices of Netflix and Disney+ are hidden behind a login. I can’t see them. Unfortunately, there are also subscriptions with adverts.

What is the price difference between a direct Netflix/Disney+ subscription or via Swisscom “blue TV S” + “blue Binge”?

I would prefer a subscription via Swisscom, are there any other advantages apart from the price?

Thank you and best regards

The binge combo saves you CHF 7.90/month compared to the individual subscriptions
However, if you add a blue TV S for CHF 14.90/month, which is actually too much for you, you will pay CHF 7/month more in total.

Incidentally, the streaming subscriptions included in the standard binge are only the low picture quality, which is certainly okay for mobile phones and tablets, but a little disappointing on modern large TVs.
So there may be additional costs for the quality upgrades.

Instead of the Swisscom TV box, place a web streaming box (e.g. Nokia Streaming Box 8010, Formuler GTV or Apple TV) under the TV set. This results in a saving of CHF 14.90 per month for Swisscom TV. However, you can then take out subscriptions with these two streaming providers separately.

I’m not sure about that, because the requirements for blue Binge only state that blue Internet or blue Mobile is required.
So it doesn’t say anything about blue TV.
It’s quite possible that you can subscribe to blue Binge without blue TV, i.e. simply without a Swisscom TV box.
If anyone would like to do this, just give it a try.

Do I need a Google account for the Nokia and Formuler box? Or is it possible without? I don’t need the Play Store.

I don’t want to log in to Google, I’d rather have a blue TV box without Google.

A web streaming box with Android TV must be registered with Google. The same applies to Apple’s web streaming box. As far as I know, the Netflix app only runs on web streaming boxes certified by them, which would not (yet) be the case with Formuler GTV as far as I know.

If you want to use a Swisscom TV box, you also need a blue TV subscription, which is a superfluous expense if you don’t want to use the TV part at all.

And by the way, Swisscom TV boxes are also Android boxes, which require you to accept the Google terms and conditions and to be able to use the Play Store you also have to log in to a Google account, which by the way is not a widespread privacy problem with a specially set up Google account.

Do I do the quality upgrade via Swisscom? Or how do I do that exactly?

Do I log in to Netflix and Disney+ with my Swisscom login?

hu0me Under MySwisscom -> TV -> Options button (bottom left of the website) -> Further options -> Entertainment you can make the quality upgrades (additional costs to the basic subscription). Prerequisite: Netflix and Disney+ subscription
