Technically speaking, the transmission medium of the Internet packets has no influence whatsoever on the “effect” of the elements displayed on the screen. Even if you have copper instead of fibre optics, the packets are guaranteed to flow “deeper” in the Internet via fibre optics.

Can you pinpoint what exactly about the image is causing the pain? Which monitor are you using? If you download something now and then watch it offline, is it ok?

What exactly do you mean by “watching” on the PC?

If you’re talking about blue TV, then you simply have to be aware that blue TV only offers “small screen” resolution via the web browser, i.e. the transmitted bit rate is geared towards small mobile phone screens, which can of course look quite “dim” on a larger PC screen.

If you want to play blue TV in really good quality on your PC screen, you need to connect a TV box to the HDMI input of the PC screen so that you can also utilise the much higher transmission rates of the “big screen” qualities of the blue TV video streams.

PS: Incidentally, there is no connection at all with the subject of fibre optics here, because blue TV never requires a bandwidth of more than approx. 18 Mbit/sec, even in the very highest resolution, which still runs without any problems even on a rather lame copper line. Incidentally, the “small screen” resolution only requires approx. 2 Mbit/sec

    charlie2 check your monitor model on the net to see if there is PWM flickering (especially at low frequencies). And consider buying an IPS 4K monitor e.g. from LG (only 200.-) with 400cd brightness. Since I bought 4K monitors, I’ve never had any more problems. But for everyone, it can either be the resolution (because it’s too close to the monitor), the wrong screen technology or the PWM flickering that causes headaches.

      charlie2 Teleboy has a so-called Eco mode in the basic setting, maybe this is activated for you, you can only see Zattoo really sharp in HD or FHD with a subscription… but that would only explain why you see the picture a little less sharp when watching TV.

              It’s not worth running every house on glass and copper. You have double the costs for maintenance and and and….

              At some point there will be no more replacement hardware in the copper sector or it will become unaffordable. The same was the case with the old analogue central office. First it was switched off and then at some point the control centres were cleared out.

              If, for example, an entire neighbourhood, every house, every flat is shot with glass, the basic supply is ensured there again.

              And then the copper is turned off there and then built back.

              But that won’t happen overnight.
