Centro Business 2.0 router and the various WLAN networks

Good evening dear community members

I have the following question to which I have not yet found an answer: My router is a Centro Business 2.0 and it supports the following WLAN networks

  • WLAN 1
  • WLAN 2
  • Separate WLAN

As the name suggests, a separate WLAN creates its own address range that is separate from the main network (e.g. 192.168.5.1 if the main network were 192.168.1.1). WLAN 1 and 2 can be activated separately (each with their own SSIDs), but both use the address range of the main network, i.e. in my example the range 192.168.1.x. Why is this done and what could be the purpose of such a scenario? An additional SSID for external employees, which is activated as required when people are in the house?

I like to learn new things, and I couldn’t find a suitable answer to this question. That’s why I wanted to ask the community for advice. Thanks in advance. 🙂

@Feuplesteu75 e.g. if you have a restaurant, café, surgery or hotel, so that your guests cannot interfere with your IT from the WLAN. They only have Internet access, nothing else. It’s the same as with RES customers with IBx and guest WLAN.
