Netgear RS300 - connected once for 10 minutes and then stopped working

Hello

I was able to setup my new router to connect directly to the internet (copper). DHCP Option 60 setup, everything fine. It worked for 10 minutes, then I lost the connection to the internet. When I connect the IB2 back, it works just fine.

After calling the support, they told me they “see an error, non-swisscom router plugged-in” so they disable the port.

They resetted the port, I tried to clone the MAC of my IB2 but zero, nothing.

According to the PAID support (very useless btw) my settings are correct but… swisscom does not support 3rd party routers.

RN I’m using the RS300 as an AP connected to the IB2 which is not optimal.

Any idea what should I do?

Thanks!

PS: I saw the other topic related to a similar issue, but I think this one is different because it worked for around 10 mins.

Any why should I? I mean the problem is not Netgear, I had the very same issue with ASUS years ago and after a lot of effort, the issue solved by itself (read: swisscom did something) after calling the support for 3 days in a row.

Hi @Schionijos33

Are we talking about this router?

If so, I highly doubt that it ever worked, as this device is not equipped with a DSL modem. 😉 While the “violet” cable provided by Swisscom also has an 8P8C style plug (also known as RJ45), it does not provide Ethernet but only DSL.

In this case, you will have to either get an external DSL-modem/bridge or just use the Internetbox as a bridge - just enable the DMZ-mode for your router, and you can take full control of the inbound traffic on it. (It will still have an internal IPv4 address, but the IB will automatically forward any incoming traffic to it.)

Best,
