Does Google also want to know which TV brand you have?

Is there a problem with my old monitor after the TV box software update because it doesn’t have an integrated audio output?

If there is to be a new release for this reason; It would be good for fans of the ‘preview function’ (in order not to have to watch the advertisements in a timely manner) (I have never seen this myself; but I think there is a need) if this were taken into account again.

Super! Then I will take this into account. It was only intended for readability and importance for the Swisscom employee who was able to confirm the problem that I have now after a month here in the forum. It shouldn’t have anything to do with screaming. After the update and a month of TV without sound.

I find the behavior regarding the update error and the corresponding treatment of me (after my use) (I have not found out that the error has now been recognized) pathetic. But this has nothing to do with the forum.

If everyone wrote so much, the forum would certainly be more lively! Are there other Swisscom forums? I mean on other topics? (so that this doesn’t get mixed up… - I understand that when it comes to purely technical problems and questions about the update, the forum gets a bit complicated here…

Greetings

The special thing is: No more sound via the audio output of the TV-Box if the monitor does not have an audio output. And this is because of the update. But we’re working on it; So it’s probably settled in the forum. Well done forum!

No, then an internet forum would be sheer horror. How are you supposed to have such a reasonable discussion? I’ll just say one thing, sometimes less is more. This also applies here.

The forum here is lively enough. Especially lately with a lot of the same posts over and over again. There are other internet forums if you don’t have enough time here or you don’t know what else you can do all day! Tragic, I’ve never seen anything like it here. If I were like that, my problem with updating the TV boxes would honestly be the least of my problems. Have a nice day…

Hi @Plickaunne44

Since the forum topic seems to be new to you: You don’t have to answer every single post.. 😉

The whole thread of posts works like a conversation - what you’re doing is like walking up to a group of people and continuing the conversation from 3 days ago. Without paying attention to what is currently being said.

This primarily leads to confusion and a flood of posts - if you like a post from another user, just press the thumbs up button at the bottom.

According to Swisscom, it’s because the model of my monitor (I think yours too) on which I watch TV doesn’t have its own audio output. crazy; what causes such an update. There will definitely be a solution soon…

Swisscom gave me a voucher in the shop as a refund.

I now use an HDMI audio extractor (optical/Toslink). There is one that hardly takes up any space. The power supply works via USB, so I don’t need an additional power supply. Use the port on the TV Box 2.1 for this.

New Toslink cable approx. 20CHF, the extractor approx. 40CHF. Swisscom contributed around 50%.

@EnSil

Which HDMI Audio Extractor (optical/Toslink) do you use that would also be of interest to others?

Installationen, Netzwerk, Internet, Computertechnik, OS Windows, Apple und Linux.

I deliberately didn’t post a link. On the one hand it is advertising, on the other hand they are technically very specific: <4K, 4K, 8K monitor, HDMI version, frequency, usb power supply,… The variant that was right for me may be wrong for someone else be.

If you would like to buy one you can contact me via PM.

We have the same problem.

No more sound on our soundbar and occasionally the sound comes and then it is no longer in sync!

We didn’t have any problems before, only since the update!!

Oldie: My experience with the latest update of TV Box 21:

No sound on the TV Box 21 after the update (use a monitor without audio output, audio is connected via audio port on the Box 21)

The problem was discussed with Swisscom Support (and seems to be known)
Support took care of my problem immediately and discussed possible solutions (SW downgrade of the TV-Box 21 until the problem is solved or solution via Bluetooth on the TV-Box 5)

- Swisscom delivers the latest TV-Box 5 (arrived the next day)

The new box supports Bluetooth for connecting wireless headphones or sound systems.

(the function is somewhat hidden under Settings > System > Google Settings > Remote Control & Accessories

find)

From the instructions for TV-Box 5

How to connect your devices such as headphones or speakers to the TV-Box 5: via Bluetooth

  1. In the menu of your TV-Box, go to Settings > System > Google Settings > Remote & Accessories.
  2. Confirm the pairing button of your Bluetooth device.
  3. Select “Add Device” option on the TV and select the Bluetooth device you want to connect to the TV-Box.
  4. Follow the on-screen instructions to pair your Bluetooth device. When prompted, click Pair.

You will now hear the sound from the paired device. The default audio mode “Stereo” allows you to control the volume using your Swisscom TV remote control.

Unfortunately the sound transmission via Bluetooth is not lip-synchronous… (OK for radio in my training environment)

For TV programs I now use the “old” TV-Box 21 with new SW via an intermediate HDMI audio extractor… This temporary solution is OK for me personally…

As the saying goes: new SW is a green banana (it ripens at the customer’s premises)
The next upgrade fixed the problems… 👍

Greetings to you!

I have exactly the same problem… the TV box works with a television if the HDMI cable goes directly to the television and it also has speakers. The same TV-Box doesn’t work when I use it with the projector (and the stereo system)… As if there was no signal at the jack output….

So you’re not alone with the problem!

And there will probably be more people with the same problem…

Show original language (German)

…I reported the problem very early on (a few months ago).

It took over a month for people to believe me. But they’ll just let the update continue and it will reach more and more customers. Exactly; This increases the likelihood that even more customers will now have no sound to watch TV with your installation (if the picture and sound are separate) until a new update (then the same thing again) and the box will be irreparable until the update.

I find this almost worse than the error itself. Despite my great efforts, no one has contacted me again. - I also think it’s a mistake that the separate audio output is no longer available in the new box and anyone who wants to watch with individual devices has to buy a power-connected adapter that splits the HDMI signal into sound and picture.

So dear Swisscom: it’s important not to annoy even more customers if someone reports that something is wrong with the update! But don’t let the update continue; Check and stop first!

Then you should also think about who pays for an adapter for the HDMI Anschluss which can separate the image and the audio signal from each other. The customer or Swisscom?

Also whether additional adapters and things improve the quality of the box or make it more vulnerable or whether a direct socket (individual audio output) is not available on the TV box:

a.) would be more customer-friendly b.) would be cheaper than an additional adapter which is required (or the output would be installed in production) c.) would be better and more sustainable/environmentally friendly and cheaper and

Whether it is really professional to install an update that was made for the latest TV box exactly the same on the old box (if these no longer work in Anschluss).

I think perhaps we should ask the people who sold the whole thing with the update and renewal of the operating system and said it would also work on the old box to pay if the TV-Box no longer works and the customers can use it for months impossible.

This is the case for me. TV without sound. So far no one has given me a new TV…

My question is aimed at Swisscom; Who checks something like this internally before it is released? Do testers really have the necessary expertise or are they just concerned with the latest achievements and don’t think about the people at home who want to use the TV box with older devices to watch TV?

Some testers wrote to me here.

…it seems to me / it’s like with bananas… letting them ripen on the customer’s premises simply doesn’t work as well as being done by the professionals on the ships where they are transported…

I reported the problem at the end of August. To this day the banana has long been rotten… (or has ripened brown and there is no sound) -

Of course you can still use the banana; after the next update… -

(meant to be funny)
