4G or 5G standard

  • Hi

The manufacturer of my daughter’s smart watch (imoo z1) requires a SIM card with 4G standard. Banal question about this - are all 5G cards automatically “downsize” capable, i.e. can they also be used with a 4G-oriented device, or is it really possible that the new SIM card is not recognized because it is only compatible with a 5G-compatible device device can be used?

Thank you very much for your help.

    • Imoo Z1 - and in the end the solution was very simple: deactivate the PIN lock and it worked. However, I found the solution on a completely different platform for a completely different product…

No, that is completely impossible. The SIM cards and also E-SIM can be used with all technologies, i.e. they also work in the 4G and 3G networks. If the SIM does not work, there is another problem, such as the watch has a problem or the SIM is not activated, etc.

I bought directly from Imoo and went through their (very rudimentary support pages automatically translated by Google) up and down, wrote to support the day before yesterday and unfortunately I couldn’t get any further… ;-(

The imoo Z1 swallows a SIM card in nano format (nano-SIM).

If there are hiccups or the SIM card is too large, visit the nearest Swisscom shop and request a new SIM card. Swisscom is happy to treat the hiccups (for a small fee).

The imoo Z1 does not support cellular frequency band 20 (800 MHz). This lack of support will lead to mobile reception problems after the 3G/UMTS shutdown.

Regarding the 3G/UMTS shutdown, the comments below:

      observe!

I doubt whether the imoo Z1 supports VoLTE. Without VoLTE support, the imoo Z1 can be disposed of as electronic waste after 3G/UMTS is switched off. See comments No. 13 and No. 14 under:
