Does anyone know anything more about this function?

Chromecast built-in™?

Can Chromecast built-in™ now be used with the new Swisscom Box Android operating system and Apple iOs devices or not?

Please do not confuse Air Play with Chromecast.

If the app has a Chromecast function on iOS devices, this works.

The update will be installed automatically. Once it has been installed, you have to take a few steps once when switching on the box. See here: [https://www.swisscom.ch/de/privatkunden/hilfe/blue-tv/update.html](https://www.swisscom.ch/de/privatkunden/hilfe/blue-tv/ update.html)

Note: These steps are necessary because it is a major update. All boxes have already received numerous updates and are otherwise always installed completely automatically without the user having to do anything. This is an exception with this update.

Question about the update:
For me the software was simply updated, but nothing else happened. I don’t see any changes in the menu either. What do I have to do to get the new functionalities (google, bluetooth etc.)? For example, I can’t find “bluetooth” anywhere in the menu?

“In order for you to be able to use the Swisscom Box, we need your consent to Google’s terms of use once.”

I didn’t receive any of that either.

Hello @mikofr

Do you really have the Swisscom Box (i.e. the one with the fabric cover)? It is currently only in testing.

The general rollout hasn’t even started yet.

If you have actually been switched to Android 12, you will find the menu item “Google Settings” under Home => Gear => System => Settings

About 10 days ago I received an email from Swisscom regarding the change.

My TV-Box is box 21 (not the one with the fabric cover)… but I’m not entirely sure (where can I see which TV-Box I have?).

I’m just surprised that all of this was announced and ultimately nothing happened.

Should I exchange the box for the latest Box 5?

The email is just an announcement that the update will be available from date xx.xx. If it says October 21st, the update should come this week.

In Posting 211 wrote RomanE :

The updates run from Tuesday to Thursday, if the TV-Box is in standby, the box is updated every night. We don’t update on the weekend unless the box has activated energy saving mode or was otherwise disconnected from the power.

After how long did you see the TV update after you received the “official” date?

I was informed that the update will be available from September 23, 2024. It was shown to me on October 22, 2024.

The installation took about 5 minutes. There were no regulations to be accepted and the remote control was not required. Operating system is now “Entertainment OS 7.0”.

Patience.

It won’t take longer than 5 minutes if you don’t have a Goole account.

Otherwise you still have to enter the access data. and that takes a little longer 😉

It looks like you don’t have Android 12 on the TV Box yet. You can check it relatively easily. Press the Home button and if there is no Google Assistant symbol in the top left, no Google Play in the apps or no Google settings in Settings -> System, you have not received the Android 12 update yet.

Android TV must also appear when you restart the TV box; only then will you have Android 12 on the TV box.

All right, I understand. In this case, since when has the update from “Entertainment OS 6.1” to “Entertainment OS 7.0” been available? And what innovations does this version bring?

In fact, I don’t see any Google settings or choices. Only a small shopping bag appeared at the top left of the menu (gear, shopping bag and magnifying glass). In addition, the surface looks slightly different.

It was like @Stephan_76 wrote.

There was a “small” software update on Monday - barely noticeable and without any changes

From Tuesday to Wednesday the update took place overnight exactly as described. All I had to do was “update” the remote and accept the terms and conditions.

I haven’t taken over all the Google services, but I could probably activate them via the Google settings in the system (is that right?).

But at the moment I don’t see much benefit for myself… or can someone convince me?

Show original language (German)

@mikofr That’s true about Google’s services, that’s still possible later. I don’t want to do any convincing. For me, the advantage of being able to download onto the box is, for example, that I can download free TV apps in German (Pluto TV, rlaxx TV) or those for channels whose language I speak, e.g. an app with Russian channels and one with Dutch, an app full of music channels and even more, with reduced switching effort compared to the Smart TV or an Apple TV box, which I also have.
