So, I am an existing customer and my current product is Multiroom Option. We are two people and so we don’t need the new Multiroom Max option. We wouldn’t know where to put a total of 5 TVs either. With this in mind, we don’t want to pay for something we don’t use. (Fr. 9.90/month)** Fr. 5.00 as before is fine.

Thank you very much for the feedback.

Hello @BMW_17a

You are here in a customer helping customer community. The most we can do is refer you to the hotline.

But honestly, I wouldn’t have high hopes if I were you. The multiroom option is being removed from the offer. There is now only Multiroom Max. Keeping a product that is taken out of the range will probably be difficult. There are probably only 3 options:

  • Accept Multirom Max for 9.90
  • Only use one box
  • Change provider

Thanks for the quick reply. It doesn’t surprise me that many customers are probably jumping ship. It would have been more honest to announce a price change. But with these many HSG managers you can only shake your head… Imitation of certain big banks!!

Yes, unfortunately that is the case. Whoever has 2 TV boxes loses. A wave of emigration just because of this is unlikely to occur. We are too comfortable for that and the providers know this. Many will at most think that this is just the way it is now. Topic settled.

I just called the hotline because of the letter.
2 TV boxes, which are never operated at the same time.
Positive: I’m saving CHF 5.00 a month from June 30, 2024, multiroom was canceled.
The disadvantage: if I change rooms and want to watch TV with the other box, I have to confirm the change every time. 🤔
Satisfaction on my part looks different 🙁

@Minnenneu85

Although it is a viable option in the short term, it will probably not satisfy you in the medium term, as the main disadvantage is not only the necessary re-registration, but the fact that the newly substituted TV-Box always has to carry out a cold start first, and this takes time with the most current ones TV boxes a good 2-3 minutes each 🙂

In my opinion, there are actually only three really good options when dealing with the Swisscom Multiroom Max option:

- grind your teeth and pay the extra costs

- completely forego the second TV-Box

- Forego blue TV and switch to Teleboy TV, which at CHF 11.90/month costs significantly less than blue TV, but the basic price already includes up to 5 parallel TV streams and therefore no additional costs for operating multiple TVs or TV boxes required.

Hello Werner
Thank you for your input. I am aware that the currently chosen solution is not the best solution.
I read and took note of the relevant online solution suggestions before the telephone conversation. I’m not happy with that and I also regret SC’s lack of flexibility for very long-standing customers.
I am not willing to pay the surcharge of almost 100% for no additional service and I am convinced that many SC customers feel the same way.
Foregoing the 2nd TV-Box is also out of the question because I want to use TV in the living room and bedroom - 1 stream is completely sufficient for me because I only have one or the other device in use.
I’ll probably have to look for alternatives because I’ve been a very loyal SC customer for many years, but I’m not married to them. In the past, I was used to having to dig deeper into my pocket for ‘a little more service and functions (e.g. setting options on the router,…)’, but you should actually check the service providers regularly.

As with all SC customers with 2 TVs, the switch from Multiroom to Multiroom MAX means a 100% price increase for the 2nd box. Does anyone know what alternatives there are to SC TV that offer the same thing?

- Transmitter

- Record

- Watch TV offset?

Show original language (German)

@Zumpeibaut77

There are some alternatives, some of them like: B. the one already mentioned in post #25 are not tied to a specific Internet provider at all, but run on any Internet connection.

7-day replay, recording and extensive channel lists are actually standard for all IPTV providers today.

Differences between the different offers are usually:

- Remote control options with classic TV remote control including channel number buttons Y/N

- which technical platforms are supported

- which individual channels are included in the offers or not

- Whether other services such as rental videos etc. are offered in addition to TV channels, or not

- Different comfort levels when programming series recordings

@Kaltstart: These 2-3 minutes are not due to technical reasons, but are intentionally programmed so that switching is “tedious” in order to better sell the multiroom option.

(The time has also been gradually extended in the past…)

I’m sorry, but I think that’s absolute nonsense!

My Box 5 has never had 2-3 minutes on a cold start. The start time is not intentionally influenced by Swisscom, but rather depends on the box used. The Box 5 is known to have a longer cold start than the Box 21. With AOT, the Box 5 also uses a different operating system than the Box 21 (AOS).

All the “offers” like multiroom, as well as all the subscriptions for sports, films, etc. are rip-off offers. It’s like when car dealers offer the car without seats and windows as a basic subscription. If you want seats, pay more. If you want windows, pay more. I feel ripped off and don’t know of any real alternative!!!

Show original language (German)

@Jaunegap89

Well, no one has to pay the surcharges for corresponding TV subscriptions for films, Netflix, etc. if it’s too expensive or you don’t need it. Anyway, I find the car without seats and windows to be a completely inappropriate example, since something like that is completely impossible! The surcharges for cars feel endless, basically similar to here, the more equipment and bells and whistles, the more expensive! So what do you want to do if it’s too expensive? Either I do without it, but it remains cheaper, I just pay the extra charge or I see whether another provider better suits my needs.

Show original language (German)

@Jaunegap89

Of course there are alternatives, because there are also IPTV offers outside of blue TV and up to 5 parallel streams are already included in the already cheaper basic price.

So it’s almost half the price of blue TV and they don’t even know about Multiroom Max, because that’s partly included anyway.

Everyone simply deserves the offer that they personally choose.

If you are dissatisfied with your current offer, you are actually dissatisfied with yourself 🙂

I’ve been looking at the disaster without multiroom for 2 days now. The TV-Box starts several times and I always have to select the language German. And this happens every time the TV-Box (bedroom or living room) changes. After 2 days it was so annoying that I activated Multiroom again.
But I do this with the knowledge that I no longer feel comfortable at SC. It’s not about saving the 5 francs, I feel embarrassed…! After decades of loyalty, I will be switching to another provider by the end of the year at the latest. There are now enough competitors who offer the same services at a lower price.

Show original language (German)

Removing the 5.00 offer and replacing it with a 9.90 offer is a rip-off for me. Clearly a small one.

It would be correct to offer the new offer additionally. But that’s purely business calculation.

They know exactly that 4.90 won’t break the family budget & 99% won’t cancel. Also called salami tactics.
