BBR Installation (U72)

Do you have an overhead line into the house or an underground line?

Which variant of coarse security do you have?

Please provide details, perhaps with photos of the cable connection would be great 🤩

Is the U72 continuous without a junction?

If that’s possible, you can connect the IB3 directly to the UP without all the house cabling.

This way you could check whether there is an error in-house and whether a replacement is worthwhile.

If this doesn’t help, the SC line probably already has problems.

But as already mentioned by @Rauppeisuf65, a continuous line without a branch is essential for a good G.Fast signal.

1×4×0.5 U72 with shielding also works, but can lead to problems because of the unused wires.

It is important not to connect the shielding wire to the BBR socket on the UP/GS!!!

With a BBR installation there can only be a single point-to-point connection from the UP to the router socket.

NO branches or Y outlets or anything like that….

@Wiflieya80 the Feller return cans are no good, please use the ones I linked.

Clearly you have to decide where you want to install the router, two connections are not possible.

The DSL box was recently replaced by Cablex.

I assume that Cablex (Swisscom subsidiary) had recently brought the correct BBR socket with them!

But please take photos front and back so we can write about the same thing!

A continuous two-wire shielded U72 seems much more important to me!

I didn’t want to fiddle with the UP of the MFH so I got a specialist via the hotline for a flat rate including materials!

@Rauppeisuf65 the Feller regeneration socket is outdated and has not been installed for 4 years.

Not ideal for G.Fast Technology. (has a switchable mechanical bridge in the box)

I know what I’m talking about because I do such installations every day on behalf of Cablex.

You can definitely borrow the material accessories from an electrician.

It’s not absolutely necessary, but it makes your work a lot easier.

@Wiflieya80 maybe @NilsL can give you your BBR inst. carry out or support on site.

Since the ADSL installation, the BBR socket types have changed four times. It is unlikely that Cablex still uses old can material (but it is also possible in some cases).

I have encountered it during various installations at electrical shops because they had connected it incorrectly.

With this type of socket you have to put Anschluss on terminals 1+2.

When possible I replaced these old cans.

Because of the existing bridge contact in the box (see picture) (sometimes causes problems after a few years)

Voice returns are no longer supported since IB3.

Voip I would install a CAT6 keystone for network cables + BBR keystone in the box.

I can’t install these two things in the Feller regenerative power socket at the same time.

However, it depends on where you live, I do BBR installations in the canton of Aargau and Lucerne (farther away there are simply higher travel costs, which is probably no longer worth it, neither for you nor for me)

@Wiflieya80 Personally, I would call a Swisscom technician/to support a case open and the whole installation carefully and have your kidneys checked. If the fault is outside the home, this is completely free. If the fault is in the house, it is worth a visit from a technician 😉.
