Hi @Teziosiest44

Are you sure that the antenna can actually support 5G NR?

I’ve only recently had “real” 5G NR cells; my cell phone has been showing 5G for a long time. 😉

If you have an Android phone (which supports 5G), you can use CellMapper to see what’s available in your area .

@Teziosiest44 Only 5G outdoor is possible for you. This means that the booster must be mounted outside the building and must be precisely aligned with the cell in the north-east. So without a compass, the booster should be aimed exactly in the direction of the old, small barn on the other side of the street (if it’s still there). Ev. It is also worth attaching the booster outdoors in a different way. I would try it temporarily (take the booster away from the power briefly after repositioning it)

You are currently connected via two LTE bands, which can even be faster than one 5G band (for me this is often the case when 5G is no longer available). But the speed isn’t great and you might be able to get something out of it with better alignment.

Thank you very much Roger, I usually have enough JUICE indoors (yellow or green light), but I would be happy to implement your advice.

Are you the one who looked at the problem with me about 1-2 years ago? The technician at the time drove to the transmission tower and explained that 5G was sufficient.
Do you have any other suggestions? Status today 21.11

What are the technical conditions for 5G to be activated? Why not connected? Would a connection happen automatically if it was strong enough or does it have a power button somewhere???

The prerequisite is that 5G is available at the transmission tower for the 4/5G booster and that the 5G booster is facing the right direction.

This question has already been answered above.

How should I check this? I only have a 4G cell phone. Lt. Swisscom technician, okay. Then why doesn’t it connect?

Is it possible that 4G works and does some good, but 5G doesn’t because the receiver isn’t perfectly aligned, etc. It only switches on when the green light is on?

    Hi @Teziosiest44

Is it possible that 4G works and does something, but 5G doesn’t because the receiver isn’t perfectly aligned etc…

Yep, the alignment makes a huge difference. It also made a lot of difference for me to mount the booster higher, as there is still a hill between the antenna and my house. You just have to try something where it’s best. It is also essential to follow Roger G.'s advice and direct the booster where he recommends. Possibly

The LED shows you the signal strength - regardless of whether it is 4 or 5G. With better alignment/positioning you can probably get even more speed with 4G. If you don’t have a window that points directly towards the antenna, there may also be an alternative mounting option #M41553) the solution.

It really depends on the circumstances. Do you have a direct view of the antenna, or do various houses block good connectivity? For me the LED is always green, but sometimes I don’t have 5g. But the speed always remains about the same, I don’t see any difference if only LTE or 5G is connected. So it doesn’t matter and constantly doing speed tests doesn’t help either 😁

If you want to get the most out of it, correct alignment/positioning is essential. If the device is on the “wrong” side or, for example, on the ground floor instead of up, this can significantly reduce the speed. However, the mobile network always depends on how many people are active there, i.e. the speed is never always the same. But as has already been said, with correct positioning you can usually get something out of it. But you still shouldn’t expect miracles.

    a year later

    Hello everyone,

For me it’s only possible outdoors on the roof…

Is there a plan to make the Fastmile 5G26 available?

This one seems to be more suitable for an outdoor installation and has a better antenna.

    [https://www.nokia.com/networks/fixed-networks/fastmile/5g-receiver-5g26-a/](https://www.nokia.com/networks/fixed-networks/fastmile/5g-receiver -5g26-a/)

Although my Zyxel NR 7101 achieves downloads of 700 MB in 5G, my current 5G14 internet booster rarely manages to get a 5G signal and remains well under 100 MB download.

the Nokia 5G26 could be an advantage here.

    Best regards,

The post above is already two years old and it is not clear what has changed in the meantime.

In any case, only Swisscom devices work in combination with the Internet box and Swisscom will also ensure the corresponding allocation to the mobile network.

It may be that, for example, You get more speed with a 5G cell phone or mobile router, but you are not allowed to use full speed all the time.

A year ago I had 400Mbit/s with the iPhone and only around 160Mbit/s with the 4/5G Nokia Booster.
