Dear community

  • Talk to Google Assistant to do more with your TV
  • Dolby Atmos for room-filling sound
  • Built-in Bluetooth for Anschluss wireless headphones and speakers
  • With Chromecast built-inTM you can easily cast your favorite movies, music and more from your smartphone to your TV

More sustainable than ever

The TV-Box 5 uses 35% less electricity than the Swisscom Box 21, is made from 65% recycled plastic and has 100% plastic-free packaging. Due to its small size, it requires fewer resources overall for production, transport and packaging.

TV-Box 5 powered by Android TVTM

The new TV-Box is powered by Android TV. The television experience remains the same, but you can now also use functions such as Google Assistant, Google Play and Chromecast built-in.

New generation of Apple TV 4K

In addition to the TV-Box 5, we have a new TV-Box including a matching remote control on offer: the Apple TV 4K 128GB. It is smaller than its predecessor, has more storage space (128GB instead of 32GB) and uses less power. In addition, thanks to HDR10+, the image quality is even better and the performance is even faster thanks to the new A15 Bionic chip.

What do you think of the new TV boxes? We look forward to your comment!

Kind regards

JanineZ.

Such news is great. We would like to consciously reduce our energy consumption - is there a way to do this or a trade-in campaign to replace old TV boxes such as the IP1800 or UHD box?

Will it be possible to use Android TV without a Swisscom TV subscription, similar to an Apple TV box

-> As a non-Swisscom customer, can I buy a box like this to watch Netflix etc., of course not Blue TV

(Of course it doesn’t make sense at the moment, but if the boxes are available cheaply on Ricardo in a few months or years)

Does blue TV run on the new box with the blue TV app like other Android TV boxes or with all features, picture and sound standards in a separate area as before?

The blue TV app for Android TV is not yet beyond all doubt and does not have all the features.

You don’t notice any difference to the other boxes. Everything as always. But there will certainly still be a few teething problems, because the change in the Google platform was huge… as you hear.

My TV does not have Bluetooth

Question 1: Can the sound be transferred to my Bang Olufsen headphones E8 and H9 via Bluetooth with the new TV Box5?

Question 2: Is it possible to hear the sound via headphones and on the TV at the same time?

Thank you very much for your help

@Rattenjunge The FB looks almost identical to the Box 21, there is also the Google Assistant button at the top left, next to the HDMI/source button.

The position of the microphone has also changed, it is now to the right instead of below the LED.

Hello

I also assume that the integration/pairing with Apple’s HomePod won’t work with the new box, right?

Of course it works with the Apple TV Box, that’s clear.

The most important question for me is, can the box be used independently of the internet provider or without a Swisscom router? I use a Xiaomi Mi TV BOX with BlueTV app in the holiday home, the connection is with Mobilunk via hotspot. I would like to replace the Xiaomi box with the TV-Box 5. The previous Swisscom TV boxes don’t work without a Swisscom router.

In any case, the AndroidTV blue tv app from October 9th, 2023 is still of no use for anything…hmmm….

SD picture!!, selected channel list does not remain, channel numbers go wild, long loading times…

Homepod won’t work.

But Airpods or other Bluetooth headphones/speakers. I hope no latency. But on appletv the Bluetooth story is solved much better.

Which Android version will run on the TV Box 5?

Certainly not live because multicast.

And even less via mobile until now.

But …

I just tried it and won’t say anything more about it…😎

@5018 not really a wink… but is it still sweet or not anymore…?
