According to AVM support, the Fritzbox 5690 XGS will be available in Q2 2025 at the earliest, which means we will soon be at the 2-year mark since AVM started talking about it.

So now almost exactly two years have passed since @Bergler asked the question.

At least it’s now said to be coming in Q1 2025, but I won’t believe that until it’s available 🙃

That’s worse than delivery dates for new cars 😂

cybi the XGS-PON version is not yet available for purchase. and then Swisscom still has to certify it. In DE this version is simply not a priority. I am currently using the 5590 fibre.

As the 5690 XGS is still a long time coming, there is now the option of switching to a Fritzbox 4690 and placing a Zyxel Bridge in front of it, for example.

Although you then have two devices, it is equivalent in terms of performance.

        I will consider this alternative.

If you want to use your own home network router for a long time, it’s always good if it doesn’t have a built-in modem, because that way you’re not tied to a provider-specific, very specific Internet access technology.

In addition, the modem-less frits can also be cascaded wonderfully behind a provider router, which actually makes the superfluous purchase of an additional technology-dependent bridge superfluous.
