Blocking the Internet is more complicated than in the Home app

  • With the removal of the Home app from March 1, 2023, I tried to manage the internet times of our children’s devices in the MySwisscom app. What can I say? An absolute disaster!!! It takes me about 4x longer, I have to wait several times, I read the screen message “This is taking longer than expected” and then I have to log in a second time before I even get to the device overview.

“Dad, how much WiFi do I have left on my phone?” -

“Dad, can you still give me WiFi on the computer for school?” -

It runs pretty much every day and is quick and easy with the Home app on my smartphone.

Swisscom, are you serious? The announcement says everything will be easier?!? How the heck does this make my UX easier? I would actually be quite happy with the status quo. But every request from my children turns into an opaque odyssey through the Swisscom realm.

Hence my questions to the community:

    1. How will you use this feature in the future? Does anyone see a simplification?
    2. As the Home app is no longer available, will there also be a significantly revised MySwisscom app, which, for example, enables user-customizable tiles on the home screen for the most important functions?

      To 1.:

I use the function either directly on the web GUI of the Internet Box or in Kundencenter mySwisscom.

For both, I much prefer to use the PC with the large screen instead of an app.

      To 2.:

We’ll see that on March 1st, because Swisscom usually doesn’t communicate such things in advance. However, I do not assume that the mySwisscom app will be fundamentally changed, at most a few functions from the former Home app will be added.

      P.S.:

Regarding children’s inquiries. I have two children. In the meantime they are of age, but I have deliberately not used any electronic barriers but have trained, educated and accompanied them in the responsible and safe use of modern media. Electronic locks are usually only effective for a short period of time and then the kids override them. However, the responsible, safe use of the media that they internalized at a young age lasts a lifetime.

    Good day

I’ve been having the same problem for months and I’m extremely upset about this new app!!! Nothing helps, I asked customer service, it was a new problem, they had never heard of it.

I deleted the app and reinstalled it. It’s still infinitely slow!

Why are you doing this to yourself when the app no longer works properly? From the Internet box menu you just click on the device in question and the device is blocked from the Internet.
