We shed light on 3 myths about the blue TV Voice Control

Myth 1: You can only search on the search page

You can use the voice commands from anywhere. Which applies for the search option too. You can simply say: “Search James Bond” and Voice Control will display the results.

Myth 2: You need to start every command with “Hey Swisscom”

You only need to use the “Hey Swisscom” activation when you speak to the Swisscom Box. If you control Voice Control through the microphone button on the remote control, you don’t need to address it.

Myth 3: Swisscom is always listening via Voice Control

You must first switch on the microphone of the Swisscom Box manually so that you can be heard. Your voice commands are only processed if Voice Control recognises the activation “Hey Swisscom” or if you press the microphone button. The voice commands are available as a text file in My Swisscom.

Such clarification only fuels the myth. In order to detect the keyword “Hey Swisscom”, the microphone in the box must be permanently switched on.

In this context, it would be interesting to find out whether the detection of the keyword only occurs locally on the box or in the Swisscom data center. In the second case, all noises recorded by the microphone must be continuously transmitted to the data center.

That used to be this one and it was removed from the range due to little use of the built-in microphone on the TV-Box, I had one myself and lots of noises in the area were annoying.
