Switching from IB Plus to IB 4

  • I have an older IB Plus and would like to switch to the IB 4.

As a long-time customer, I get the box for free.

In the order I should specify a date for the changeover - what kind of change?

Is this necessary since I have already connected the IB Plus?

The new IB 4 should be recognized and configured automatically whenever I connect it. Who has an explanatory answer to my request?

Thanks in advance for the answers.

This definitely means switching from 1 GBit/s to 10 GBit/s - Anschluss. You simply get a new cable with the IB4 and you’re done. The IB4 no longer needs a fiber optic module for the 10 GBit/s - Anschluss, as the IBplus still has for the Anschluss, for example. And the switchover causes an interruption and as soon as the switchover has taken place, the old router with the 1 Gbit/s - Anschluss must no longer be connected, otherwise it will cause interference. So please stick to the information you receive from Swisscom. The easiest way to pay attention to communication is in the app or in the Kundencenter.

Sali Zämme, I have a stupid question, I also received an IB 4. When I switch (from IB plus to fiber optic), do I also have to change the fiber optic cable? Greetings and thanks for the support

It is always better to use the latest included material.

    Good morning @User62

Pretty sure yes. I suspect that the fiber optic cable on the IB Plus has a blue plug. The IB 4, on the other hand, has a red plug. This is a clear sign that the cable needs to be replaced. If the plug is already red, you can try it without replacing it.

Another piece of advice, I had a QR code on the IB 4. On the changeover day, when you have received the SMS, scan it with a device that has mobile internet and you will be guided through the changeover step by step.

    It’s exactly like @5018 already wrote 😁

I’ll just jump in here for a moment:

Sorry, can finally get rid of it… it’s just an opportunity

And why do you have to downgrade back to 1Gbit/s first before the 10Gbit/s Anschluss works again?

    😉

    Hello @Herby

    These are 2 technical components:

    - The previous owner had a BX line at the new location:

    - If you are moving, then unfortunately your router has to be connected to the BX system first. System notices that you are there.

The order is then completed in the system.

Only when the order has been completed can the speed order be started. And it triggers a switching order in the system, where a technician goes to the headquarters. And swap the BX fiber for an XGSPON fiber.

You can then switch the green/blue cable with module back to the green/red cable and plug it directly into the router.

I’ve been annoyed by that too, unfortunately that’s how it is. The mills grind slowly.

There may be an adjustment in the system at some point.

    Greetings Lorenz

    @Lori-77

    Thanks Lorenz for the correction.

    Then I realized it too.

The relocation date has been postponed “because the internet isn’t running yet”.

    Telephone calls with Swisscom.

I have had 3 fiber optic kits at home since then. One used for a week and two still packed.

I hope that this article will be fruitful and that such idleness in the “system” will be recognized or adjusted and will lead directly to the goal in such a case.

    Greetings Jüre
