UPC or Sunrise will now get a new customer or an old one back.

So when I read in the Sunrise Community how many customers have problems, I can only say one thing.

Good luck with Sunrise.

There are some customers who could bite themselves in the ass. I only know three colleagues who have already switched back to Swisscom.

I think that’s good. Customers should change. So now I’m spinning the wheel of fortune:

I recommend “Green” today. Unfortunately no voucher code.

A few times in the past I have made decisions in anger that I later regretted. That’s why I wanted to relax for a few days before the planned switch back to UPC/Sunrise. I deliberately refrained from talking about my new purchase of a HP OMEN 45L, otherwise, as I suspected, we would have digressed from the actual topic. And I wanted to avoid this.

So, there was a new PC and a huge mess in the PC room. Opened both PCs to implant an M.2 SSD and a 2.5 SATA HD from the old PC into the new PC. I noticed a lot of useless cables lying unconnected under, behind and on the table. So the first thing to do was clean up.

And then I asked myself why there was the SB2 solo on the table and a disused Apple router next to it. “Isn’t the Apple router part of the SB2?” Then something clicked and the memory flashed through my head that the router had to be placed as higher as possible if other devices would block the “view”.

So I put the old Apple router (as before the problem) under the SB2 and did another reception test. And lo and behold, the reception quality has returned to normal thanks to the surface being just under 20 cm high. I have full signal strength in the bedroom, as well as in the garden and basement. The SB2 must have fallen while tidying up or putting away unnecessary cables without me noticing (I was often under the table).

What surprises me is that none of the Swisscom specialists (2 supporters, 1 technician, and no one here in the forum either) mentioned where the router was located. I’ve definitely read somewhere that the placement of the router is an important part of a good connection. And nobody asks about it.

I thought I owed it to you to share the truth. Thanks for listening".

The setup shown is problematic for several reasons:

With the tower you prevent optimal ventilation and the devices also heat each other up.

WiFi transmitters should be at least 50cm away from other electronic devices and should not be placed near large metal objects.

Ultimately, it can also be problematic if you place the WiFi transmitter too close to a wall; free-standing in the middle of the room would be ideal.

I would be happy to take your advice. But it’s difficult to deal with it in a 3.5×2.2m room.

As I mentioned above, the Apple router only serves as a base and is therefore not connected to anything. So the Apple router doesn’t warm up. More likely from the network hub. I could put something between SB2 and the hub.

In principle, you should not stack any of the devices shown but rather place them next to each other so that the air can circulate freely. With WLAN transmitters, the optimal radio placement is also important. Using a device that is not switched on as a “pedestal” for the IB2 is of course no problem.

The Internet box 2 must be free at the top! Otherwise the warm air cannot escape and it can overheat and be damaged!

For example, putting 4 corks on top and then the next device on top would be an emergency solution if you really don’t have any other space.

That makes sense. I have now removed the network hub and the Philips Hue Smart Controller above.

What is that dark gray part to the left of the WB? If it’s something metal and/or electronic, it’s not optimal in terms of radio technology if the WB is “jammed” between the part and the wall.

If someone could offer me a clever cable duct solution, I would be very happy. I was already looking for it, but the abundance of models stopped me from continuing. I imagine a model that I can lay along the edge of the table at the back.

    Or something similar:

I really like this, with a large volume to accommodate all the cables. I would fasten the underside with power strips so that I could easily release it if necessary if corrections were made. I’ll take a closer look.

    Thank you for that.

Setting up a WLAN device between the wall and the screen is almost the worst case scenario in terms of radio technology. The only thing worse is a transmitter that you put in a closed metal cabinet. Basically, you should maintain a minimum distance of 50cm from other electronic devices with a WLAN device.

The position for setting up the IB2 is described in the instructions and that is correct for most people.

I am very grateful and satisfied that I received so many tips and tips. But I also want to mention that the previous position of the router between 4 and 5 years gave me full signal strength. And now, after a ten-day disruption, everything is working fine. And I have already mentioned that I am limited in my small office. The Bosch Smart Controller and the Philips Hue Controller must also be connected to the router. Everything sits in close proximity to each other - and it works without any problems.

I would like to leave it alone now and declare this thread closed. Thank you again, dear helpers.
