Addition: after several contacts with support, it was confirmed to me that it is actually the case that the benefit package always comes into play when it is renewed, even if a purchased package is still running! Although I am very satisfied with Swisscom’s services, I suggested that I “take a little grain of salt” on this point, because that doesn’t correspond to my logic.

As already mentioned, I can live with that because 500 MB/30 days is usually enough for me. If necessary, towards the end of the period, e.g. when there are only three days left until the renewal, I can deactivate the mobile data traffic and switch to WLAN, if necessary also via hotspot on my wife’s cell phone 😂, or at the “snail’s pace” 128 kB so far possible.

Simply “killing” a paid package that has already been purchased with a new benefit package and thus declaring it invalid is actually not possible.

In my opinion this is a clear concept or program error.

Until Swisscom realizes this, you could, as a workaround, simply purchase the additional data you need from outside Swisscom.

If you have a dual SIM cell phone, for example, simply add a prepaid from myMucho as a second SIM (also uses the Swisscom network) and, if necessary, activate the DUONANO package for CHF 4.90/month.

This would mean that you would not only get the 500 MB of extra data you want, but also 75 minutes of free telephony, which cannot be deleted by Swisscom.

P.S.: By the way, dual SIM is always a good thing and you should definitely take it into account every time you buy a new cell phone.

As mentioned, 500 MB/30 days are normally enough for me and it’s usually only a matter of a few days, which is how I actually came across this problem. But it’s not “the fine way”.

Overall, I’m happy with Swisscom and I’ll stick with it based on the principle of “never touch a working system”. Every provider certainly has its advantages and disadvantages, such as Quickline: TV/Internet would be conceivable, but mobile via Sunrise network is the “killer” for me. If I ever need more, I would probably consider a subscription again. At the moment, if necessary, I help myself by switching off the mobile data (*) or - if she is traveling with me - by using the WiFi hotspot on my wife’s cell phone (she still has the old version with 250 MB/30 days, and I guess I changed a little too early).

Despite being satisfied, there are a few points for which I would have some suggestions for improvement, but there is no corresponding “message board” - point one…

All right, just an addition on the topic of dual SIM in case others come across this thread:

In dual SIM operation, you don’t have to worry about stability at all, because the only question is whether the cell phone even offers it.

If so, it runs absolutely smoothly with a few additional settings.

It is also the perfect solution for stays abroad, because if one of the two SIMs is also eSIM capable, you can buy very cheap local data packages for the country or region in question directly online on the Internet.

I have now found the solution to prevent the “stealing” of the remaining credit while the purchase package is ongoing and the standard package is renewed:

- without a package I pay the same amount for telephony

- only SMS costs CHF 0.15 and I have no data available, i.e. only SMS costs additional (no problem, as I hardly use it anymore), I still have data in the purchase package

👉 Deactivate automatic renewal of the standard package and only buy it again when the purchase package has been used up!

I’ll do it if I find myself in the same situation again!

We apologize for the circumstances described due to the prioritization of the different packages. As already mentioned, the blue benefit is currently being prioritized. Once the blue benefit is renewed, this credit will be used first and the purchased package will be put on hold. When purchasing packages, the package purchased first will always be prioritized. However, the Home Benefit is not technically built to the same level, which unfortunately means that the logic of the previously purchased package does not apply. We will be happy to check the current prioritization and make changes if necessary to prevent further inconveniences.

Thank you for your feedback Simone. As mentioned, 500 MB is usually enough for me. I was out and about a lot in July/August and last week I deactivated my mobile phones just to be on the safe side, and that was enough.

As mentioned in my answer @Werner, I found out the “Mecano” by - if necessary - deactivating the automatic renewal of the blueBenefit after purchasing a package, working with the basic package until it is used up and only then buy again.

Maybe we’ll work on prioritization after all 😉…

I don’t have any foreign data volume. That’s why I buy one package, e.g. 3GB for EU.
Now when I leave I check this and buy a new data package BEFORE the package expires. Now the new data package is used first and the “old” package then expires at some point.
Why isn’t the remaining volume of the old package used up first before the new one is used?

@Chr.S That doesn’t correspond to my experience, from time to time I need the World 1 data package for trips outside the EU/EFTA/CH and then I noticed that only the rest of an existing package had been used up . Incidentally, it is also the case that when the old one is used up, the same package will be charged again unless you actively intervene, so I have decided not to book a new data package in advance. Maybe the old one will be enough (that happened to me before 😀).

yes, that is clear. I’m explicitly talking about the 3GB EU data package. And then the new one is ALWAYS nibbled on first. That was the case when the packages were only valid for 30 days, so it was even more annoying.
