Unifi Dream Machine PRO mit Swisscom TV - Bypass via VLAN

  • Hello everyone

I plan to install the following:

IB3 –> UDM PRO (via DMZ) –> Unifi 24Port Switch –> Devices, including 2 Swisscom TV boxes

I also want to use Swisscom TV. I know that the UDM PRO cannot be an IGMP proxy. So I have to connect the Swisscom boxes directly to the IB3 or loop them around the UDM Pro.

If I configure the IB3 as a DMZ and connect it to the UDM PRO via LAN port 1, can I then use LAN ports 2 and 3 on the IB3 for my 2 Swisscom TV boxes?

My Swisscom boxes are in different rooms. Everything comes together at the Unifi24 Port Switch.
Is it enough if I configure the ports used on the Unifi switch where the Swisscom TV boxes are attached as well as the 2 ports, which then go to port 2 and port 3 of the IB3, as their own VLAN?

    Thank you very much.

    Greetings

    • Maybe this video will help you understand that. They don’t do it the way I’m used to.

You create a VLAN 666 🥳 for the networks, here you also activate IGMP snooping.

Then you create a profile and select this VLAN as native.

You can then activate the 3 ports with this profile on the switch.

Thanks for the info - I’ll try it out today or tomorrow.

If I configure the IB3 as a DMZ on the UDM PRO, do I also have to switch off the DHCP on the IB3? Or do you need it for Swisscom TV?

I will set the IB3 to 192.168.10.1 - my UDM PRO will then have 192.168.1.1 and act as DHCP.

I would then use the VLAN for the Swisscom TV boxes, for example. E.g. take 192.168.20.1/24.

Hope it will work like that 😉

You have to leave the DHCP active on the Internet Box.

What is not entirely clear in the video is that you have to select VLAN Only for the network. Then the question of the subnet doesn’t even come up. We only need the VLAN for the etc. then VLAN only is enough. So you don’t have to generate a subnet at all, it’s done via the DHCP of the Internet Box.

And if you want to be cool, you can use a different network than 192.168.1.0/24 for the USG.

Right from the start, save yourself possible problems that may arise later with VPNs with overlapping networks.

You want the DMZ of the Internet Box so that all ports (that are not used internally by the Internet Box) are routed to your USG. This means you only have to configure the port forwarding you need on the USG. This is the purpose behind the DMZ of the Internet Box.

Hello everyone, I also have the same problem and haven’t been able to solve it yet. For me it is structured like this:

Internet box 2 > UDM > Swisscom TV Box.

Could someone help me so that it works?

      Hello

Do it exactly as described in the previous posts - then it will work.

If not, please provide a detailed description of where you are stuck.

      Hi

And you are sure that the UDM Pro is the right one for you…?
It requires a certain IT and network know-how.

First you should set the Internet Box to the IP 192.168.10.1.

Then create a new network in UDM Pro (call it Swisscom TV) and set it to VLAN only.

Then assign this new profile to all ports in the switches where you have connected Swisscom TV boxes.

      • hed likes that.

First, assign the Swisscom Internet Box the IP address 192.168.10.1.

The UDM Pro then has the 192.168.1.1.

Then capture an additional network on the UDM Pro. Configure the name with Swisscom TV as VLAN only and activate IGMP.

Then configure the WAN network on the UDM Pro with the static IP 192.168.10.2.

      Configure the WAN2 to DHCP.

Then assign the new VLAN Swisscom TV to all switch ports where you have the Swisscom Box.
