Thanks for your feedback.

But I would like a solution from swisscom or samsung. Before I had a Löw Budget Huawei and everything was OK… It’s unbelievable that with a completely new device there is this problem..

Hello @Sinedius

Do you have a case for your Samsung?

Have you tried without a protective cover?

Because not all protective covers allow the signal to pass through equally.

And how is the reception when you have the Samsung on the table?

P.S I remember a generation of iPhone that had a fine line on the side, and if you put your thumb right there, the reception was bad, that’s exactly where the antenna was fixed. That was back when they switched from plastic housing to aluminum.

Hello Lorenz,

Yes, I’ve already tried it, it’s not the case or the location (or inside/outside) it’s really something with the cell phone/processor/firmware/Android version… and the problem is with two things:

- Antenna connection

- capacity of system to process the data (buffer, memory or something like that)

waiting for a response from Samsung and Swisscom…

@Albatros2

It’s good that it’s working perfectly now, but is this supposed to be the solution here? Everyone switch to the iPhone and it’s good?

@Sinedius

It’s strange to me that this problem also occurs over WiFi. I would reset the S20 to factory settings, if that doesn’t help, claim the warranty.

Show original language (German)

@Samsi no no. I just didn’t want to withhold my experiences and those of many other countries from forum posts from you!

Of course you can contact swisscom Samsung about the problem, reset factory settings, register for warranty.

but what I read and the certainty that the antenna strength in the S20 cannot be improved due to the model (but the radiation is low) and I had enough that my customers kept being thrown off the line…

Some people bought the S21 and the problems remained.

is probably a Samsung Android 11 update problem.

The loading time of websites, video streaming freezes and the reliability of the password manager were other reasons for switching.

Clearly Samsung is still a few steps ahead in terms of hardware.

Hello,

So my DS21 runs without any problems.

Even 5G is top 370/30 Mb/s for me

An update came in yesterday, but I didn’t read what improvements were included.

Greeting

Daniel

PS:

Wow, sorry, I only saw it now, it’s about the S20

Hello Samsi

Thanks for your feedback.

I tried another new s20+ 5G from swisscom Shop (which still had Android 10). Same problems. It is also said that many customers have problems with s20.

I only took the s20 because there was a very good offer before Christmas otherwise I wouldn’t have changed my cell phone.

Yes, of course you can always change the brand or model, but it doesn’t solve the problem. I would like to know what’s wrong and I’m currently waiting for a Samsung answer/solution.

To get all the data, passwords, 2-way authentication, etc. It takes at least half a day to configure the phone, which bothers me to do this process several times.

I only fly with the supplier if necessary or there is really a problem because ajf is paid a lot.

Thanks and greetings

Switch off VoWLAN and VoLTE support in the Android settings beforehand.

https://community.upc.ch/d/14308-no-calls-construction-receiving

At home, switch off “Mobile Data”/“Mobile Internet” in the status line. Measure the WLAN reception with the “Network monitor”:

On your Samsung cell phone, dial the phone number *#0011# and then select the “WiFi” menu item in the hamburger menu (at the very top right).

https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hamburger-Men%C3%BC-Icon

During a telephone conversation, call up the “Network monitor” ( => On the Samsung mobile phone, press the (+) button during the ongoing telephone conversation and dial the telephone number *#0011#) and measure the mobile phone reception:

When used in buildings (indoors), see the information below:

observe.

That is also a solution 😋

I am also very satisfied with the mobile internet and also 5G. Luckily I have 5G+ active at my place of work and where I live.

As read in various forums and online reports, Samsung has also used other providers various problems with the mobile internet. Among other things, this is said to be due to DSS (Dynamic Spectrum Sharing). Deutsche Telekom in particular has various problems. Swisscom also uses DSS with band N1.

If you have 5G+ (midband, N78) you shouldn’t have any problems.

@Cruncher

But somehow still very strange. Above all, he writes that he also has similar problems over 4G, which has nothing to do with the DSS problem 🙂 In this case, it would be interesting to test whether the same problem with the S20 also occurs with another provider, such as Salt or Sunrise exists, or whether it runs perfectly there.

I would not be satisfied with a packet turnaround time > 12 milliseconds (Ping/RTT).

DSS is and remains a deception for customers! 5G with DSS is “cheating 5G”.

The use of DSS will only lead to compatibility problems and thus frustrated customers.

https://www.5g-provider.info/technik/dynamic-spectrum-sharing.html

Packet turnaround times <12 ms were promised for 5G. See:

https://www.5g-provider.info/speed/5g-ping.html

The packet round trip time (RTT) is a much more important value than the maximum data transfer rate. See:

[https://mobilecommunity.ch/wbb/index.php?thread/326-salt-fiber-oder-salt-unlimited-surf-f%C3%BCr-heimnetzwerk/&postID=2526#post2526] (https://mobilecommunity.ch/wbb/index.php?thread/326-salt-fiber-oder-salt-unlimited-surf-f%C3%BCr-heimnetzwerk/&postID=2526#post2526)

Swiss mobile phone providers such as Swisscom should finally start broadcasting “pure/real” (standalone) 5G in band 28 (700 MHz) or band 8 (900 MHz). In order to broadcast 5G in band 8 (900 MHz), Swisscom must first switch off the broadcast of the 2G/GSM mobile signal. See:

https://community.swisscom.ch/t5/Mobile/2G-Abschaltung/m-p/651479#M8519

https://community.swisscom.ch/t5/Mobile/Samsung-A42/m-p/653767#M8609

I suspect that the Swiss-wide shutdown of the 2G/GSM mobile network was stopped by Swisscom due to serious UMTS/3G network reception gaps. See:

https://community.upc.ch/d/14308-no-calls-construction-receiving

Currently only Salt seems to offer pure/genuine (standalone) 5G in Switzerland. Please note the measured packet turnaround times < 12 milliseconds (Ping/RTT) under:

Hello @Sinedius

The connection problem as well as the battery problem is common with the Samsung 20 series.

If the cell phone still has the same problems after a factory reset or after the latest software update, I recommend that you send the cell phone to Swisscom for repair under warranty.

Of course, you will also receive a rental device at no additional cost.

Greetings

Muhammad S
