Hello everyone

my ib3 also runs very well. According to my first tests, the WiFi is a bit better than with the ib2.

How critical are you of the open error:

No Internet access if IPV6 firewall mode “Strict” is selected

would you recommend disabling ipv6?

Greetings René

Hello

Thank you for all the tips regarding the Home App. Unfortunately no one helped.

I had to install the January version. I was then able to log in with this, then I updated to the latest version. Now it seems to be working.

Another question about the Tel book. Is this saved automatically or do you have to set it?

PS: At the moment I don’t have a chance to set up the box, so I have to rebuild the rack first.

Did anyone get an IB3 that only came with the fiber optic cable? Was the toilet cable also included?

Yes, my IB3 only came with a fiber optic cable and of course the SFP Fiber Module (Siligence) inserted. This is also clearly marked on the cardboard box as Internet-Box 3 FIBER.

The IB3 actually runs perfectly. WIFI is noticeably better than the IB2. In the store we use the Android app called “WiFiman” from Ubiquiti. I have 3 additional WiFi boxes at home. In the app you can see it wonderfully when the WIFI is automatically passed on from the 4 devices. Cool IB3 😉

By the way, the design fits well next to a classic stereo system:05598793-E6A8-425C-9B6E-68F565232F68.jpeg

Unfortunately, what I haven’t found yet is the switch for the dark mode of the case…

Addendum: Why the forum now presents photos “overhead” is still a mystery to me @ThomasS

@Werner

From a DECT and WLAN perspective, placing the IB near electronic devices is not optimal. A minimum distance of 30 - 50cm is recommended.

Proximity to larger metal surfaces (in this case the housing of the hi-fi system) can also have a negative effect on DECT and WLAN.

When it comes to IPv6, experts’ opinions vary widely. The majority recommend it and Microsoft even writes that IPv6 is absolutely necessary for Win10 to function correctly.

Personally, I have a different opinion. As long as very few devices in my private household understand IPv6, I am dependent on IPv4 anyway. Since I don’t see any advantage in mixed IPv4/IPv6 operation yet and don’t have a use case for IPv6 itself, I deactivated IPv6 on the IB3 and the PCs. When it comes to such configurations, I always follow the motto: “Set up/activate as little as necessary and not as much as possible”.

The only reason I use IPv6 intermittently is for self-taught training.

First of all, have fun testing and just use it. A few more things “as a reminder”.

The software is basically the same as on the other IBs. However, there are clear differences in many areas, as the new hardware enables different functions. That was already the case between the IB2 and the IBP/IBS. The firmware on the IB3 is not yet the version we want to use at launch. There are still a few bugs that will be fixed in the next version. Even then, you won’t be at the same level of stability as IB2, and we expect even bigger leaps in functionality, especially in the WIFI environment (WIFI 6 doesn’t yet have all the functions it could have). So a lot will definitely happen in 2020.

So if there is an automatic reboot, don’t get upset, it’s still “normal”.

We’ll take another look at the topic of what we automatically take over when changing the box and what not, or what is in the separate config file in 2020. We definitely have to clean it up. We also have the topic of consequences of reset vs. box replacement on the list, although it turns out to be more complicated than expected. I can’t say yet and certainly can’t promise whether something will happen or not.

Something else will happen in the telephone book area. We have set up a CardDAV server in the background and both Internet-Boxen and Centro Business will use this in the future. The migrations (IB users shouldn’t actually notice anything) will follow in the next few months. But that gives us more options overall. We also had two different concepts today at the IBen and the Centro Business. That doesn’t make any sense either.

So then. We might have a little surprise. Maybe a second one for a few. I have to take a look. 😉

Tested, that’s not the case for me. Are you sure it’s not the picture?

by the way:

After I installed the box (IB3), I received an email and an SMS with a warning that the router had been changed. Was that the case with you too?

Maybe a small piece of the mosaic in the grand scheme of things, but I think that’s great from swisscom…

I reproduced it again and found out that it wasn’t the forum software, but because I took the picture directly with an iPad Pro 2018.

The image looks normally oriented on both the iPad and a W10 PC, but as soon as you upload it with Firefox, it rotates when uploading.

If you take a conventional photo instead of the iPad photo, it won’t rotate.

So it seems to be purely an iPad Photo compatibility issue.

Presumably the original HEIF format of the iPad photo, which generates a slightly “different” JPEG when transferred.

Today I tried out all VPN connections from a foreign network using DynDNS to the IB3 and various port forwardings from the IB3 to the internal network.

Also landline telephony via VPN under iOS with the Home App.

No abnormalities whatsoever.

Everything is already working very well and so far with the same quality as the IB2.

I already believe that customers will like the IB3.

I had some problems putting the IB3 into operation on my G.fast Anschluss:

  • After switching on, red-white flashing for 30 minutes.
  • Unable to log in to web GUI; only the home network was shown as green, even though I had an internet connection again after just 5 minutes.
  • Executed according to the swisscom.ch/start instructions with the result “Your Internet access has been successfully set up”, but in the Web GUI the Internet/Telephony display is still red and no login is possible (wrong PW).
  • Existing password was not accepted, I then created a new PW (same).
  • Logging in to the Web GUI is now possible, but with a note that Anschluss is not activated.
  • Done the registration again and then everything was finally green.
  • Telephony: I had to deregister/register 2 DECT telephones, although they were visible, but the ring test was negative. Ecomode Plus was also deactivated with an indication that a device (HD Montreux) did not support it. After logging in again, everything is OK.
  • Phone book was not copied.
  • WLAN-Box recognized correctly and working.
  • IB3 then apparently did an update (multiple white flashes) and restarted.
  • I re-imported the phone book using Home App. When deleting unnecessary contacts (approx. 10) in the Web GUI, the IB3 crashed and restarted.
  • No problems have been identified since then and performance seems to be at least as good as with the IB2.

At the moment, the entire commissioning process can take 20 minutes. Our systems are a bit slow at the moment. If you wait after pairing, everything should come back. Please report this so we can take a look at it.

Hmm, so I can’t get my HD Zermatt phones to work anymore. I can call or be called but everything remains silent! 😐 I deregistered the phones and registered them again but it doesn’t work. Restarting didn’t help either.

Strangely enough, it happened yesterday evening right after it was put into operation. 🤔 Error message made of course 😉

Hello everyone

Now I’ve come to Smart Home. I wanted to put a new MyStrom switch into operation yesterday. Unfortunately I can no longer access the Smart Home part of the Home App. I have already tried the tips from the relevant forum. Anyone else having problems with the Smart Home part?

@Anonymous

My IB3 reboots at irregular intervals.

which I didn’t have with the IB2.

Multiple restarts within a short period of time.

I have recorded the message.

Does anyone have these problems too?

Normal operation is not really possible, so I am almost forced to connect the IB2 again.
