DNS swisscom not updated

  • Good morning,

There is currently a major DNS resolution problem with my swisscom access. Last night I changed the IP address of my server which is no longer in Germany but in Switzerland. The global change took a few minutes according to the site https://www.whatsmydns.net/.

But today, more than 19 hours after the change, I still cannot access my server (via HTTP) via the swisscom router access.

I reset the router: no change, still no access.

If I change my DNS resolution to OpenDNS, I can access my site.

    What is happening at swisscom?

Thank you for your clarifications, have a nice weekend,

    Christian

    PS: my current DNS: (non-functional)

    • Good evening,

      Thank you for your answers.

The site finally became accessible on Saturday evening around 6-7 p.m. (more than 20 hours later).

If we were in a third world country, I could still understand the slowness but in Switzerland, in the center of super-connected Europe, I don’t understand…

      Greetings,

      Christian

    Good morning,

When changing DNS, for some the delays are longer, the impact can take a certain time, and the update parameters are sometimes broad to speed up the processing. I have observed delays ranging from a few seconds at least, up to ten days for remote Internet users. Normally 2 or 3 days for here…

But it also happened that I had to contact providers for DNS that never changed with them. However, I have never had this problem with Swisscom.

And you should also not forget to clear the DNS caches on your computer…

    Hello Chrigou,

you must ask Swisscom to run a flushdns under Windows

    ipconfig /flushdns

    Windows IP Configuration

    DNS resolver cache flushed.

on their server, but this command is the responsibility of an admin manager and not the first level 😞 so be patient or otherwise request the opening of a trouble ticket if it continues.

    Good luck.
