HD telephone Davos: conversation partner mute

  • Hello. I have a HD Phone Davos from Swisscom (bought a few months ago), connected via an Internet Box from Swisscom. The following has been occurring constantly for some time now:

Incoming calls to the landline: My phone rings, I answer it, but the caller cannot be heard.

Outgoing calls from the landline: No signal that the person being called is ringing (but it does, I tested it), the caller can answer the call but cannot hear me (and vice versa neither).

I’ve already reset the phone to factory settings once, but that didn’t help. The phone’s firmware is up to date (vH026).

    Does anyone have an idea?

    Thanks

    • Take the battery out and in again, log out and log in again.

(You can deregister the HD phone via the Internet box menu, see picture below)

Then briefly switch the Internet box off and on.

It could also be a hardware defect… It’s strange that the speakers and microphone are in the same place, but that’s not surprising given the quality of the product 😀

    Good day

With our HD Davos we don’t hear the person we’re calling, but they hear us.

The display says “mute on”, it’s impossible for us to figure out how to turn the mute off.

There is nothing about it in the instructions (grade=0).

    Does anyone have a tip?

    Thank you very much

    Good evening

The problem is increasingly occurring with the device. It’s best to take the battery out and put it back in and it will work again. This is the only solution that works. All IP: wonderful devices.

    nice evening.

It’s not a problem for All IP, but if you’ve been annoyed enough about the Swisscom phones, which only work with a Swisscom subscription anyway (outdated form of marketing sales for dummy customers of a SIM lock that the mobiles have purchased for a long time) , then just leave it.

Absolutely no one is forcing you to buy a Swisscom phone.

Just buy telephones on the global market, which are produced internationally in millions of series and, unlike Swisscom telephones according to the official standards of CAT iq 2.x, in addition to being used by other telephone providers, they also harmonize perfectly with Swisscom Internet boxes. (well insiders actually believe: They work significantly better than Swisscom’s own phones)

The market leaders at the moment are:

    - Gigaset CL660HX for those on a budget

    - Ggaset SL450HX for design-oriented people

    - Gigaset E560HX for big key oriented

All of them harmonize perfectly with the Swisscom Internet boxes and are sometimes also available from Swisscom itself, but are usually available cheaper from various online retailers.

I like the Swiss cities a lot (especially my favorite Zermatt), but the fact that Swisscom named its Vtech co-branded phones, which were specially neutered for Swisscom, after them is almost damaging to their image from a tourist perspective.

Just mentioned for the sake of completeness that this is not true. The Swisscom HD phones, for example, also work on the Sunrise Internet box on Sunrise connections - so they are just “normal” cat iq2.x phones. Probably also work on other Dect stations according to the cat iq2.x standard…

Of course you can discuss the (software) quality of the Swisscom HD Phones 😉

Presumably the range of suitable devices was simply too small back then and Swisscom worked together with existing partners to put together some devices and give them beautiful Swiss city names…

Your clarification made me do a little more research.

You’re right and what I wasn’t even aware of is that, contrary to what I said in the last post, the manufacturer VTech actually certified the Swisscom devices for CAT-iq 2.0:CE5A5E05-755B- 4BB6-B637-AD7742AA9608.jpeg

However, Swisscom itself writes that its telephones only work in conjunction with the Swisscom Internet-Box:

Unfortunately, I cannot test whether it is actually possible or not to operate the Swisscom HD Phones via an additional DECT base station, for example on a UPC-Anschluss.

I don’t know whether this has ever been tried and so far I only know of cases where the devices were then disposed of when the Swisscom subscription was given up.

Hello everyone. The problem with not hearing is not just related to the HD phone. We also use Gigaset and often have the same problem. It depends on the sync between the box and the provider. The only thing that helps is a restart of Swisscom Box. Apparently it has to do with too many transmission errors.

If the connection between the IB (router) and the provider is so bad that telephony is disrupted, there is either a problem with the supply line to the house or with the house installation.

In the first case, 0800 800 800 will help, in the second case, the electrician will help.

We have now noticed the phenomenon on several connections. With all routers there is nothing unusual in the error log (e.g. RX and TX with lots of errors) and the great thing about it is that one side often hears the other, but the other side is silent. We’re looking into the technology, but find a useful supporter who understands the problem.

It’s just a shame what’s currently on offer here! Bought two expensive DAVOS and then the problem mentioned on both. We went through all the procedures and finally exchanged it in the shop. Good for 2 days and then the same thing again… I just find it unreasonable for the “market leader” to offer such a service! No matter what it is, I just want to be able to make phone calls!! In the old days, you plugged in the phone and it worked. The same applies to network coverage: I’ve been surfing at 4 Mb (!!!!) for 4 years and have heard nothing but promises of improvement. But the monopolists can apparently afford this!

To limit the problem, you could connect a wired analog phone to the a/b interface of the IB for a certain period of time and use it to make calls. After the elimination process, you can at least determine whether the problem lies in the handheld device/DECT area or not.

      ADDENDUM:

@Anonymous (Swisscom) reported here that there may be known problems with DECT, i.e. you need some patience until the next upgrade:

      Hello everyone,

We haven’t had a phone since last Friday! The line was just “broken”! But the person we spoke to understood us perfectly.

After a bit of back and forth it’s now working again. Apparently an “old” software was installed on the IB2!

Today my partner calls me at the shop. Now the phones are just silent. All 4!! The doorbell rings, but I don’t hear anything! You exactly like that!

My partner is turning in the red zone! She no longer wants Swisscom and wants to change…

I have to be honest, I’m starting to find this situation untenable. No phone for 5 days, then it works for a short time and now it doesn’t work again……. And that in this day and age….

      Wow!!

Welcome to the club of IB-DECT base station victims.

Of course, we all hope for an improvement soon through a firmware update of the Internet boxes or other measures taken by Swisscom.

The provider has now accepted that there really is a problem and is working on it.

Until then, only workarounds will help you get landline telephony to work properly again:

      - Making calls with the Home App on the cell phone

      - Anschluss of a wired telephone or a wired separate DECT base station on the analog telephone connection of the Internet box

      - Anschluss a separate LAN-based DECT base station via the internal SIP credentials (for example, a colleague of mine now temporarily has a Gigaset GO Box 100 on it and has re-registered all DECT telephones from the IB to the Gigaset base station)
