Increase internet speed

Hello everyone

Is there perhaps a way to get even more speed from our DSL-Anschluss? Unfortunately, the building is not accessible with glass and I actually don’t want to switch to Cablecom 😉

The copper line comes in from the neighboring house and is probably led into our house via a parking garage. Both are apartment buildings with 6 apartments each. Below is a photo of the distributor in our house and an excerpt from the network information plan.

Do you need more information?

Thank you very much and greetings

Chrigu

Have you ever looked [here](https://www.swisscom.ch/de/privatkunden/internet- Fernsehen-festnetz/internet/internet-booster.html) to see if you can order a Internet-Booster? Enter your details (telephone number or address) here and we’ll take a look…

TOI Toi Toi

The Internet-Booster is only available in combination with a Vivo S or M. The speed on your Anschluss must be lower than 35 Mbit/s. The availability of the Internet Booster depends on both the length of the copper line and the mobile signal at your location. You can check here whether you meet the requirements for Internet-Booster.

Thanks for the tip! It looks like I could order the Internet-Booster. If I see this correctly, a maximum of 40Mbit/s would be possible, right? That would then be +7Mbit/s compared to now.

Do you think there’s anything else that can be achieved by improving the house’s plumbing or something?

You can always make improvements to your home network to make it faster. The question is simply whether the ratio of “cost” and “more speed” is balanced so that quite a bit more speed is possible at a reasonable price.

Just try out the Internet-Booster. It shouldn’t cost anything.

Others here can probably give you much better information about home networking than I can.

You will hardly notice whether 33Mbit/s or 40Mbit/s in daily use.

In addition, this “boost speed” is only granted if the LTE antenna has enough free capacity. So you can assume that during peak times (lunch break, evening hours), when the LTE antennas are being used to capacity by mobile devices, there will hardly be any boost capacity available….. It depends very much on the location of the LTE antenna and its general utilization. …

….keep on rockin' 🤘🏼🤘🏼🤘🏼

krigu simply order the Internet Booster for free and test VDSL-LTE. As long as you don’t get over 33Mbit/s, it won’t be active. Hopefully the upload will also be included by Q4.

You can install a BBR. This will probably make your performance values even better

The booster values are very variable. It could be that you only get 1Mbit or 20Mbit or nothing.

I briefly checked a few of the surrounding houses and there too it looks about the same as ours (33 Mbit/s / 10 Mbit/s). That’s why I’m a bit skeptical as to whether much can be achieved by optimizing the house cabling.

The Internet-Booster would certainly be an idea, but I don’t know whether it’s worth it because of the 7Mbit/s (additional cabling, additional device, etc.). Of course I was hoping that 50-100Mbit/s would suddenly be possible, but that probably wasn’t too realistic 😉

Let’s hope that our house will soon be equipped with glass or else I’ll have to look at the competition. Thank you all for the tips.

Hello everyone

I discovered by chance that I can replace my Internet-Box plus with a Internet-Box 2 for free (Vivo S package). In addition, I am one of those who are below 40Mbit/s and also get the internet booster for free. So I placed the order and a day later the postman rang.

Backup of the installations of the old Internet-Box plus created, the new Internet-Box 2 put into operation, backup restored. To my great surprise, everything worked without any problems (I have quite complicated settings:smileyvery-happy🙂

Internet booster installed and connected to the Internet-Box 2. Since I also have very poor 4G reception, I had to restart the device a few times and lo and behold, it suddenly “bite”.

Result before:

Download 22Mbit/s / Upload 4Mbit/s

Result afterwards:

Download 49Mbit/s / Upload 7Mbit/s

For me, the change has resulted in a significant improvement and the whole thing is free. I can really recommend it to everyone.

@Anonymous

Thank you very much for these devices, which are free for me. They are still visually eye-catching. However, I would have liked Swisscom to have proactively informed its customers. I really only came across this option by chance.
