You just have to try it out, maybe it will suddenly work with a different entrance. Nobody said Sony was crap, but there can always be something wrong. Even with an expensive Sony TV.

whoever

I will do everything you gave me as a task, even if I have to stay up all night. If I’m successful, then I’ll thank you and of course I’ll post it. If not, I’ll thank you too, in both cases I would have learned something.

It was definitely not my intention to put myself in the spotlight. Maybe it’s my mistake that I put too much trust in the technology, that will change in the future.

Nevertheless, I have no understanding of replacing tried-and-tested things with new ones.

Good night and happy Halloween

Sony - SoNever, never…. 😉

Joking aside….

Speaking of “prehistoric”: Unfortunately, it’s the case today, technology is already out of date when you take it out of the store - regardless of whether it’s SoNie, Samsung, LG or whatever…

3 years is an eternity - no matter how expensive the thing was

Since you now apparently have the “older” TV2.0 HD box, it should actually match your SoNie in terms of age - plus/minus the same generation. Nevertheless: The thing may have a problem, as may the new HDMI cable or software incompatibility or a different HDMI socket. Trying out other HDMI sockets doesn’t take a whole night…

Good luck!

….keep on rockin' 🤘🏼🤘🏼🤘🏼

I had to plug the new box into the SoNie anyway. The old box or the subscription was blocked for me. Well, after several attempts, the paper clip finally helped me. The Böxlein then downloaded things diligently like a world champion and I think installed everything. And lo and behold… smile, smile

At this point, I would like to thank you all, especially whoever, who helped me with valuable tips.

Kind regards, Cad

PS: POGO, funny post, thank you

@whoever

Now don’t exaggerate. This is the TV2.0 HD box (not UHD box) on an HD TV, so the perfect combination.

For me, the UHD box even works perfectly on a 4-year-old HD TV. Not all customers are willing to purchase new devices every 2 or 3 years, and this is not necessary.

And there is no end in sight for HD TV 2.0, I think you are confusing something with TV 1.0

Show original language (German)

You’re talking to me. I’m also not a fan of wear and tear and pre-programmed obsolescence. But how are we supposed to earn our living? If everything went perfectly, many would be arbeitslos again. And you are basically forced to follow this tedious and unnecessary behavior. Unfortunately, as Otto in this society, I can’t even defend myself against it. It wears me out inside when I constantly look at the growing mountains of garbage, seas contaminated with microplastics, whales getting stranded, birds gorging themselves on garbage and staring in misery, etc. and immediately watch it on TV.

Show original language (German)

I can also sign. Swisscom’s electronic waste has also piled up on me. This raises the question “Progress at any price?!” If you look at it soberly, that’s why Otto resigned and can no longer support this throwaway policy. Bye

Ultimately, it is each individual’s responsibility to decide how much waste they produce. And no one is forced to always buy the latest devices:

- For example, I still have an iPhone5 and couldn’t do much more with the latest iPhone7

- My HD TV is 4 years old and is far from being replaced

- Laptop and PC are 4 respectively. 5 years old and still work perfectly even with Win10

- I recently replaced the old printer after 9 years

- The analog telephone is 20 years old

- The Technics record player and the HiFi speakers are 40 years old

Where is the problem?

or has to produce garbage?!?

For example, I couldn’t replace the battery on my last hair trimmer (99 Fr.) because it was permanently installed in the housing. There were no screws on the device either. When it weakened more and more I bought a higher quality one from P*******.

It’s not that we want to produce garbage, that’s not always the case. My old TV box actually ran perfectly (the black one), had a Scart output which had many advantages, looked elegant, etc. I still had to give it away.

What happens now to this BOX? Will she be exploited? Do you sell the devices to the Eastern Bloc or something? Or does it just end up in the electronic waste? The latter would really make me angry.

That’s the problem. Produce garbage no matter what

In Switzerland, normal electronic devices are properly recycled and it is actually a lucrative business.

N.B. Most customers only want the latest and if one company doesn’t comply then the customers switch to the other company!

By shopping cleverly and sacrificing a little comfort, you can also avoid a lot of waste:

You can still have hair clippers and razors without batteries. You won’t find it on the shelf and many sellers even claim that models without a battery no longer exist because they either don’t know or are simply too comfortable ordering such a device (it is also by far the cheapest model in each case ). For example, in 40 years I have only had my fourth electric razor.

And where it is not possible without a battery, my purchase order is usually standard battery (e.g. AAA) before replaceable system battery before welded-in devices.

Well, then make your own rules and be happy with them. At least until TV1 is switched off.

For hundreds of thousands of other customers, however, TV2 brings a massive improvement and where it didn’t work right away, the problems were solved with the help of Swisscom or other customers here in the forum.

hello hed

I read somewhere in the forum that you want a test image on the output device, i.e. directly on the set top box. Of course that would solve my problems. Each box provides its own color scheme and it would make sense if you could calibrate your TV accordingly.

I once wrote in the forum that I miss the test image that was available on TV1 and initially also on TV2.

However, the test image was not generated locally in TV-Box, but came from the TV platform.

dear swisscom community

Two weeks ago I had (had to) switch to Vivo XS without a landline, which corresponded somewhat to the vivo casa **. Wouldn’t I be entitled to the UHD box, which brings more liveliness and contrasts, but instead I got the white one with the black lid. Maybe then the image quality would have been okay again.

Good. This morning it really drove me away because I didn’t do anything else all night other than fiddle with the settings on my TV. It all came to nothing. Every channel, no matter which one, either had a bright yellow tint or another channel suddenly made the people look exaggeratedly pink, the other channel suddenly became so dark, another channel suddenly seemed exaggeratedly bright. The Bond film even seemed to be black and white, etc.

It drove me so crazy that I uninstalled everything and sent it back to Derendingen, including the router and all cables, to Swisscom. Then I called Swisscom at 8 a.m. and canceled.

I won’t change to anyone else because I’ve always been completely satisfied with Swisscom. That’s how I live now without watching TV and without the Internet. Bad luck. But you still have to shell out the Betrag of 74 francs for three months. Poor Otto, I think to myself.

So you won’t have to pay for any service. Why didn’t they send me the UHD box from the beginning? I’m sure it wouldn’t have come to this sad end.

Speaking of which, I’m now at my Eltern so I can at least submit my last post here.

It was a nice time at SC, three years, nice, refreshing people in support, quick problem solving with remote maintenance and so on, so it was really great. And this little TV box has managed to throw everything out of me… it’s burning inside. The online chat just said, “We’re sorry that it didn’t work out for you, thank you for your understanding!, any questions?”

Now I’m Otto without TV and without internet. I still have about 60 DVDs that I’m going to watch now, and then, who knows…

I was happy with swisscom. It has to work without it

5 days later

hello everyone

I pulled myself together and communicated with swisscom again. To my surprise, fortunately. I have now signed a new contract with a term of 24 months. For this I was delivered a UHD box and a new router.

I was pretty amazed that everything worked as it should again. The colors are back!!! Ugh.

So it was actually in the box. But why is this possible? I always thought a chip works or doesn’t work and nothing in between, i.e. faulty. It could be that out of half a million devices manufactured, one goes wrong. Or was the Anschluss somehow gone in the pits. I can’t imagine it either, electricity only runs through the cables. Or could it be that SC now processes the data differently than in the old system. I noticed that each station somehow broadcasts its own color system. This wasn’t so noticeable with the old box SCTV 1.0. But now with the UHD box I really notice it. SRF and co. have a perfect picture, including ORF and ARD. Except the German private channels, with the exception of 3SAT, somehow have a bluish cast to the picture. And that’s not because of the TV BOX. By the way, Servus TV gives me the best picture and is now considered the reference channel for picture settings.

Well, it doesn’t matter, the main thing is that everything runs as usual again.

And according to the hotline, things will only get better in the future.

kind regards to everyone

@cadmium

Glad it’s working to your satisfaction now!

Also to be mentioned:

Even the “only” HD box (with a black lid) usually delivers a perfect HD picture - there are several 100,000 of them in use. If the picture is not OK. is defective, either the box is defective, the cable or an incompatibility of the box/TV combination (hardware and/or software). But it happens very rarely.

hi POGO

kuul

I sent the UHD box back because I upgraded to Internet 50. Swisscom TV Air runs better than the UHD box and the colors are even hotter, almost like SCTV1.0. So you can soon save yourself the HDMI salad and the faster power cables. ;-)

No set top box, no matter who it is, determines my colors on the TV.

Watching TV over the network is way better than watching TV via the TV box!!!

I now have the TV directly on the router.

I love it

best regards cad
