Which Vivo subscription for Netflix is sufficient?

  • Good evening dear community

I’m currently in the process of going through and optimizing all of my fixed costs. Since there is a lot of movement in the market, I do this once a year. For example, I saw that there is an M Budget subscription for the cell phone for 19.- and no longer just for 29.- like the one I have. Compared and changed because the smaller subscription is completely sufficient for my needs.

Now about the Internet and Swisscom. I am a satisfied Swisscom customer and hardly ever have any problems. My subscription is Vivo M, i.e. 100 Mbit/s. Measured via WiFi with the Cnlab Speed Test, a good 82.6 Mbit/s is achieved. I don’t need a landline.

I’ve had Netflix for a few days and I’m thrilled with it. The speed is of course great - no stuttering whatsoever. Now I’ve seen that 5 Mbit/s is enough for Netflix (except Ultra HD, but I’m not interested in that, just normal HD).

My question to you, since I couldn’t find it in the forum: would a Vivo XS be enough for Netflix? Since less is received via WiFi than via cable, or is it? 10 Mbit/s, then maybe 6 or 7 would be enough? In any case, Vivo S would be enough, because the M is a bit too oversized for me since I no longer play games online. Or are there problems with Netflix and WiFi on the XS or S? Who has Netflix on one of the little Vivos? I’m grateful for your experiences so that I don’t have to switch back and forth to test.

    Thanks and greetings

    Fabian

    • Vivo XS is fast enough for Netflix if other people in the household don’t use a lot of bandwidth at the same time.

10 Mbit/s should be possible without any problems via WiFi, but that depends on the reception quality. If Netflix currently works via WiFi, it will also work with the XS subscription.

If you already have mobile from M-Budget, take a look, they now also have a 50Mbit/s internet subscription for just under CHF 50/month. Although there is a landline included, it is still significantly cheaper than Vivo XS without a landline and without TV.

Small disadvantage: There is only a simple, hardly configurable 0815 WLAN router. But since you don’t need a landline, I don’t think there’s a bad chance of getting another router to work.

(Ultimately also runs via Wingo - a subsidiary of Swisscom)
