Correct, the automatic activation and deactivation of the WLAN works. But this doesn’t help in terms of restricting temporal access to the WLAN if this can be overridden directly on the I-Box.

Yes, this function that allows you to lock the WLAN button on the Internet box is missing, perhaps @Anonymous can take a look at it for improvements. It should somehow be possible via the Internet Box menu, just like you can set the display time.

Or you could also use the WLAN operating time to block the WLAN switch on the Internet box.

In this case, I’m wondering whether the wrong function is being used here…

The WLAN scheduler is for global use, so that the WLAN does not shine all night long, for example.

If certain devices are to be specifically blocked from the Internet at certain times, the child protection function must be used, which is then also “tamper-proof”…

So I’ve been happy a few times when I was awake at night and was able to activate the WiFi on the box (which was switched off via the planner) with the switch…

Just assume, for example, that during the day the WLAN is deactivated by the planner, but you should still go online and the WLAN button function is deactivated.

There is no device far and wide to connect to the router via LAN cable and briefly activate the WLAN…

Unfortunately, this tip is only of limited use with teenagers at home, as any agreements/comprehensions sometimes fail and the desire to use the WiFi outside of the agreed times fails.

A function called “child protection” should work independently of insight/voluntariness.

Child protection is good for small children, but teenagers can bypass internet protection relatively easily. There are plenty of tips from technically experienced colleagues on the playground.

That may be all.

Nevertheless, I would like the possibility of being able to set the WLAN at any time on the I-Box, regardless of operating times and/or child protection, to be at least optionally deactivated, since access to the Internet with the mobile phone and/or tablet is only possible via WLAN happens.

I agree with Pogo. Since I have many devices on the WiFi, it would be very bad if the button were deactivated and I would need the WiFi in an emergency. Above all, you lock out all WLAN devices when WLAN is deactivated. I have used the child protection functions a few times and they work reliably. Especially if the older brother is allowed to surf longer than the younger one. Of course, there are always ways to do this immediately, but the children have to come to that first

The suggestion from @mananac was that you can turn this WLAN button on and off yourself, so at your own risk.

You could start a survey, pros and cons.:smileywink:

You can do exactly that at any time using the WiFi button on the router! Where’s the problem?

He would like to have a way to deactivate the WLAN button on the Internet box so that it has no effect, i.e. there is no possibility of turning the WLAN on and off there.

The same function already existed with the display of the password on the display, etc. Such functions must necessarily be deactivable in the WUI.
There’s nothing to ask. This is part of a proper router OS. The software of the Internet boxes is still years behind. All functions must first be explained to uninvested customers…

4 months later and I’m still annoyed that child protection can be circumvented so stupidly easily. @GuidoT doesn’t seem to feel responsible…

@mananac

Again: CHILD PROTECTION cannot be bypassed with the WLAN button (I can’t do it and neither can my stupid kids). The global WLAN TIMER can be bridged using the WLAN button. But: one has nothing to do with the other.

Oh, we already had this discussion. But okay, I chose the wrong term (again). So again:
