Hello, I often travel in France and throughout Europe. This roaming problem with my Apple Watch is only in France, i.e. it works in UK, Spain, Belgium and other countries. In fact I only have this problem in France. So it’s surprising that it doesn’t work with a neighbor. My question: do you think you will soon be able to resolve this problem with France?
This is difficult to understand given what I mentioned above. I thank you (Swisscom) or another user who has either a solution or another operator with which it would work (I have the same problem with Sunrise, because I have 2 e-sims in my Apple watch).
Good morning,
Thank you for supporting my request 🙏🏼!!! I feel less alone with this concern which I find absurd. So, I took the Multi-Device option but I’m going to cancel it because I travel mainly in France so it’s of no use to me (I wanted to be able to enjoy being on vacation without my phone while remaining reachable) . What’s more, I wanted to equip our children with Apple Watches because I want to delay the acquisition of mobile phones as long as possible but as they mainly go on vacation to their grandparents-parents in France, it is therefore not possible for us…nothing no good!!! As you mention so well, I find it absurd that this does not work with a NEIGHBORING country!! I inquired a little if other operators offered this option but like you, I saw that with Sunrise this was not possible. Maybe Salt (given the fact that Salt is formerly Orange and that in France there is the Orange operator). Anyway, I’m not very motivated to change operator, I’ve always been loyal to Swisscom but let’s just say that this is a very boring situation. I hope that by joining our grievances a solution can be found.
Good luck to you and thank you for keeping me informed if you have anything new.
Good morning,
It seems that this is still the status quo.

But it’s really strange to the extent that it seems to work in other countries except France. In these other countries, I imagine that orange is already present there.
In my opinion it’s not a technical problem but ok. People have been asking for this for over a year…
Hello to all followers of this topic (Roaming Apple Watch in France with Swisscom plan).
I just did a test today in Angers, far from the Swiss border, and roaming on the watch alone, not connected to the phone, seems to work.
I am taking the liberty of posting this message to warn those interested and have their confirmation if they notice the same improvement on their package.

Hello everyone,
Thank you for your contributions.
After collecting information, here is the information collected:
Swisscom launched VoLTE with its partner Bouygue Telecom at the end of last year.
The availability of the function with Orange and SFR will follow.
Only Apple Watches in Multi-Device configuration (“paired for myself”) connected to a VoLTE network while roaming can use calls and data transfer while roaming.
If Apple Watch is set up as a primary subscription (e.g. “paired for family member”), calls and data transfer do not work.
Good afternoon
Hello @LeylaG,
I have just seen the latest messages and am delighted that things are finally moving for France.
I have an AppleWatch (multi-device function with my abonnement Swisscom) which, until now, did not work in France. If I understood correctly, this problem should now be resolved. I’m going to do a test, I have to go to France this weekend, so I will voluntarily leave my phone at home and see if it works with my watch.
But what worries me is the following. Our two children currently have inOne mobile care subscriptions (for Smartwatches because we want to delay the acquisition of cell phones as long as possible). Not to mention, they have Xplora watches. A few years ago, we bought AppleWatches for them but returned them because we noticed that they did not work in France (they regularly go on vacation to their grandparents in France).
So I was very happy to hear that the problem was finally resolved and that we could get AppleWatches for them again. But your post that if it’s “matched for a family member” worries me. Does that mean it won’t work?
Indeed, from memory, when we configured their AppleWatch, we did “family sharing” (as they do not have a cell phone themselves) in order to be able to manage school mode for example.
However, they each have a “phone number” with a Sim card (or E-Sim).
Can you tell me if in our situation, given their respective subscriptions, this will work or not?
I hope my message is clear. Please let me know if this is not the case.
Have a nice day and best regards.
Hello LUL67,
So I have an AppleWatch series 9 and of course I have “Roaming abroad” enabled. And I checked the “updates”
So I’m not explaining that it didn’t work. Was it a temporary problem, lack of network, etc….I’m going to try it again the next time I travel to France.
But what I would like to know today is especially if I purchase AppleWatch watches for my children, with their subscription (inOne mobile care) is roaming abroad supposed to work or not . In view of Moderator Swisscom’s comment, I am not sure I understood correctly.
Hello everyone.
Eureka!!! It worked!!!
In fact, this morning I went to France and tried it again and this time….it worked well.
Yayyy!!!
However, now, I would like to know what about the possibility of acquiring two AppleWatches for our children with their inOne Mobile Care subscription (i.e. AppleWatch configuration for a family member - family sharing).
If anyone could enlighten me!!!
Thank you very much.
the answer should be in the section > Use a telephone number

Hello @Black Mamba,
Thank you very much for your feedback.
But then, what is the difference between the inOne mobile care subscription (which we currently use for our children’s smartwatches) and the “Blue Kids Watch”. Would this solve the famous AppleWatch problem and allow our children to make and receive calls in France?
Thank you in advance for this additional information.

Good evening Jauzijau76
Since we are also customers like you, it is much easier to provide you with information in a Swisscom Shop or by contacting Swisscom Support on 0800 800 800, because no one will respond to your request here. Additionally, there is no point in posting the same question multiple times on different threads on this forum.
