I also called yesterday and was told that I can’t get the 5G device/activate it because I don’t live near a 5G antenna…
The fact is that the new booster can also be attached to the house and not just to the window… i.e. I don’t have a window where I can get optimal reception…
The current booster only gives me +30 Mb DL… although according to Checker I could achieve 170… and I even tested it with the Zyxel NR7101 and got +300 Mb…
Then the L2 support told me that I might be able to buy a Nokia 5G booster in the Swisscom shop for 149CHF, but couldn’t confirm to me whether it could be activated afterwards…
Sorry if I didn’t describe it clearly enough.
- The 5G booster has not yet been officially launched
- Anyone can use the 5G booster if this is indicated in Checker or mySwisscom
- 5G is not available everywhere, I currently only have a 4G connection, but it is sufficient for the subscription
Anyone can buy the 5G booster for the IB2/3, but it’s no use if you’ve already reached the speed of your subscription via the DSL/fiber line today, or you don’t have a 4G/5G connection.

Well, I think there are certain requirements that have to be met in order for the new booster to be displayed.
I think these would be:
Certain firmware on the IB
booked a higher internet subscription than the checker states as the maximum possible (for example internet M, but checker only says 120/40)
It’s a good question whether 5G still has to be available at the address.
For example, the network card says that 5G+ is even possible for me, I don’t even know what that is😂
and if I’m not mistaken then bonding must also be technically possible on Anschluss. But even then I don’t know what that means exactly.
And can you really buy the booster in the Swisscom shop?
If the booster is officially released, the correct SW is also on the IB. The current status is automatically distributed by Swisscom.
Here you can find the difference between 5G and 5G+ under the FAQ:

Bonding is the name of the process where the booster brings together the data from two different transport media (DSL and mobile) (to bond).
I don’t know whether the booster will also be available in the SC shops or whether it will only be available online.
Hello everyone,
I still have the following questions:
- With the introduction of the 5G booster, is it also possible to obtain Swisscom TV if you only have 10/0.8 Mbit via DSL (100/10 with 4G booster)?
- What would be the upload rate? After 2 minutes of uploading images with Lightroom, our internet breaks down for 1 minute despite a limit of 25% performance in the Adobe cloud settings. Would this be more stable later?
Thank you in advance.

Afaik as of today it is not planned.
Maybe it will come in 2022 or 2023 or… - As is well known, Swisscom will only communicate it shortly before the release…
….keep on rockin' 🤘🏼🤘🏼🤘🏼
