This is the most current FW that I know. There was a bug fix release in the WLAN area. But otherwise it was very stable.

Can you narrow down the situations in which a restart occurs? Otherwise, really restart it using the power switch.

Show original language (German)

Yes, it is the current version.
The last restart was last night, the 9th after a good two days, I don’t know why at the moment because it’s running well.
Current:

2WB3

93 devices active

68 degrees CPU (no heat warning)

53% CPU utilization

Of course she has a lot to do, but I don’t think the restarts should be like that.

I just unplugged it for two minutes, let’s see.

@cybi

93 clients is a lot of wood for an internet box - welcome to the Corner Case Beta testers 🙂

Have you already opened the IP range of the IB5P’s DHCP server to the maximum?

If it were a quantity problem, it would be difficult to assess whether it would be the DHCP server itself or any other internal tables in the IB.

If I had the problem myself and wanted to do a little testing, I would try replacing the IB5P’s DHCP server with another DHCP server in my own network.

Now the IB5 has completely hung up. Oh dear.
I’ve now disconnected all WB3s and am back to my HUAWEI system.
Let’s see if that could be the cause.

So after 24 hours without WB3 I can say the processor load on the IB5 has fallen from 50 to 10% and the temperature has fallen from 70 to a good 50 degrees.
IB runs very stable without WLAN load even with over 90 clients.
It’s just stupid that Swisscom no longer takes the WB back. 🙄

Does anyone else need a WB3? 😆

By the way, despite WIFI7 on my iPhone 16pro, the WIFI of the IB5 is just as fast as that of the IB4, i.e. around 1400mbit

@cybi

This is probably also a reason why I have no problems with the many devices with the two independent WLAN access points instead of the Swisscom WLAN boxes 3.

Two WLAN boxes 3 are still in use only for Windows and Apple devices and the large remainder of almost 38 devices have separate WLAN devices.

I also shared the WiFi frequencies 2.4 and 5.0 with separate names and passwords.

@cybi Sorry, I already wrote this in another post. There is a corner case where the IBs becomes unstable if too many devices are connected. Since this only affects very few customers, the case is prioritized lower down. But maybe the team can take a look at it now. I pushed Michel on the case here 😉 It shouldn’t be that complicated, especially if it’s reproducible.

Ok, I think the problem won’t get any less in the future because people tend to have more and more devices in their home that want to be connected.

I have uninstalled the WBs at the moment, the constant reboots are not acceptable.

@cybi

It would be really interesting to see whether the problem really only depends on the Swisscom WLAN boxes.

Do you have the opportunity to test use independent WLAN access points in your network like I did?

The first tests with the Internet-Box 5 and a client with a BE200 WiFi module show the following measured values:

Measurement with cnlab UX test

Measurement with cnlab UX test

Download 1.2Gbit/s and upload 2.4Gbit/s measured with cnlab UX test.

How do you measure the speeds and what values do you achieve?

It’s a good card that “only” has a 2×2 structure, but still supports 320 MHz bandwidth. Interesting that the download isn’t better. The question is whether the limit is in the WLAN or on the test server or on the way there.

19 days later

Last night the IB5 did an update and it seems to have pulled some old backup from the KC.

In any case, everything was changed, WLAN name, DNS address, VPN settings.

I had to reset everything manually, which was a bit tedious, and immediately loaded a current backup into the KC.

Strange behaviour that the IB4 had never done before.
