I’m not convinced whether this is solely due to the IP address - there is another error - but you can assign the switch a fixed IP address either way.

I have no problems at all with my TP-Link switch.

@WalterB Oh, funny enough, that doesn’t work because the switch isn’t recognized by the network at all

Did you briefly unplug the TP-Link switch from the power supply before making this setting?

How long is this LAN cable from the Internet box to the switch and does it go directly from the Internet box to the switch and not internally via distributors or sockets?

Hang the switch with a very short LAN cable on the Internet box and without any devices attached to it. In this test you can connect the PC directly to the LAN cable where the switch was previously connected.

@WalterB The switch hangs on a 20 meter cable directly from the Internet box to the switch. The switch also flashes when “System” is displayed. The cable goes through the house over 2 floors

@Sevii

If you do my suggested attempt you can see whether the switch works normally when connected directly with a short LAN cable.

I think the problem is somewhere in the long LAN connection to the switch and the question is still open is this long LAN cable connected directly to the Internet box without any terminals or sockets in between.

N.B. Was this 20m long Ethernet cable bought pre-configured or made with the plug yourself?

Assuming it’s an 8-pin Ethernet cable and not just a 4-pin one?

It’s a normal Ethernet cable 20m, with a connector in between (like a Lan to Lan adapter because the cable was too short). Nothing more. Otherwise it is connected directly from the Internet box to the switch. The cable was laid through the apartment. Nowhere via a plug/behind the wall or anything. You can see the 20m cable through the apartment. I can’t imagine that the cable suddenly broke after a week, as the signal was coming through before. (Even this morning, strangely enough, but only to the PlayStation)

This is what it looks like.

We won’t get any further if you don’t do the test with the switch, first over a short LAN directly on the Internet box and, if that’s good, the switch in front of the LAN adapter.

The TP-Link works without any problems over a 20m 8-pin or longer Ethernet cable.

I had already used a 60m long 8-pin Ethernet cable without any adapters in between.

Did you buy it recently or much earlier?

If the LED on the switch flashes green it is ok, that also means that it is a 1Gbit signal, if it is yellow it would be 100Mbit.

What do the LEDs at outputs 1-8 show? These should also flash when a device is connected and switched on.

@WalterB I can’t see it anymore, the Internet-Box 3 is constantly loading and I can’t access it. Probably have to do a reset

How can you understand this? Loads permanently.

A reset is normally not necessary.

You switch off the Internet box after a firmware update, e.g. after 10 minutes back completely for 10 seconds. Off and on.

What does the LED on the Internet box show? White, red etc.

I enter internetbox.swisscom.ch in the browser, log in and then the overview loads permanently. After 4 minutes there is a problem with the internet box. Hopefully it’s not already broken because we replaced it a few weeks ago.

Enter 192.168.1.1 into your internet browser and then press the top green dot with the mouse on the left side like the picture below.

N.b. If you do a reset it can take up to 10-15 minutes until everything works again because all the data has to be loaded again.
