Swisscom is ripping off older disability pensioners

  • Hello everyone

My neighbor is a disability pensioner, speaks little German and has no idea about the Internet or technology. Today she asked me to help her because her TV wasn’t on. Two days ago she was in the Swisscom shop and asked for help with her television. Instead, her contract was extended by 2 years, upgraded to 1 Gbit/s internet, expensive cell phone subscription upgraded, Blue TV etc. for 188.- per month. Now she is shocked when she saw the new bill and doesn’t know what to do. She didn’t understand what the salesman was trying to sell her. She just wanted to be able to watch TV and you didn’t need a 1 Gbit/s line for that.

In addition, the internet has not been running for 2 days. When I plugged the LAN cable into the router and accessed it via the browser, I knew why. Swisscom sent her a router that was in factory condition and had to be set up first. Sorry, but the woman can only move one arm and one leg properly and can’t use a computer to configure the router and then they send her a router that isn’t ready, even though the pictures say you just have to plug it in. So far they haven’t even changed the socket and Swisscom support doesn’t know where the problem is and said they might have to call in a technician. What’s that supposed to mean?

How can I help her get out of the contract? Should I hire my lawyer directly for her or go to the Swisscom shop with her on Monday and tell the seller to cancel the contract?

I find something like that to be pretty criminal and just plain pathetic. How can a company be so bold?

I would definitely go to the shop together and sort things out there - but does that have to be with a lawyer? 🤔

It would be interesting to know which subscription exactly she had before and what the monthly costs were.

    Hello @CyberSecurityExpert

For certain items you have the 14 day right of withdrawal.

It would be particularly interesting which shop it was.

It’s best to go to https://www.swisscom.ch/kontakt and then request a call back. It’s best to do this to the neighbor, as she is the contract holder is.

And the routers always come in factory condition. These collect their information as soon as they are connected to the network, so you no longer have to program anything.

    Phone number, Wi-Fi name, etc…

    greetings Lorenz

Thank you for your help. Swisscom has terminated all contracts and my neighbor is therefore exempt.

I described the case to ChatGPT and ChatGPT listed 4 Swiss law articles that the Swisscom sellers had violated. We then wrote a letter listing the violations of the law. Swisscom then wanted to make phone calls and my neighbor was released from the contract.

I recommend to everyone here that if injustice is done to you then defend yourself! ChatGPT can help you with this

Unfortunately, there is no Swisscom customer advisor position where older people or customers who don’t have very good knowledge can get proper advice.

I notice this myself again and again in my environment where I help many users order a product that they can use without an additional subscription that does not contain any added value.

    Well, sorry!

    Foreigners!

Just want to do your job and look good!

But know little about Swiss law!

Old people are given all the “garbage” that they don’t need or understand 😞

the problem has existed FOREVER 😞

Switzerland has a 30 day right of return or cancellation! 🙂
