Internetspeed

  • Problem statement:

    I have just put the new Internet Box 4 into operation. So far everything works.

    The current internet subscription allows a maximum of 1Gb speed.

    I’m happy with the WiFi and can surf at around 800MB speed right next to the Internet box.

    However, the Internet box only provides around 100MB via the cable. (Measured directly on Internet Box 4).

    Ask:

    Does something have to be set or enabled on the Internet Box in order to use the maximum speed of 1GB via cable?

    Or why can this be that the connection is almost 10 times faster via WiFi.

    I would be happy to receive an answer to this and thank you in advance!

    Greetings Christian

    @Flauffivu58

    If you only get 100Mbit/s through the cable, this indicates either an old cable with four wires instead of eight or a defective cable. What category does it say on the cable (labeled Cat. xx)?

    And as @POGO 1104 already asked, does the Ethernet port on your device support 1Gbit/s?

    The Internet box always connects at the maximum possible speed of both devices. The IB4 has 4 1Gbit/s ports and one 10Gbit/s port. However, in your case this will make no difference which one you use, as your subscription only delivers 1Gbit/s.
