Swisscom, I am very disappointed in you!

Dear Swisscom

I’ve always been a fan of yours. Even if you are more expensive than the others.

But what is being done with this new subscription is absolutely not possible! My Eltern live in a retirement home and there was already theater because they wanted to take their old number with them. In addition, my Eltern pay a lot more because they no longer need the Internet. Since my father has dementia, he has given up the internet. What for? He forgets more and more. Sad. Every month my Eltern pay over 100.–. Okay, they have the most expensive TV subscription and telephone too, of course. It doesn’t work without the internet and you don’t have another subscription. This is the information from customer service. What the hell. People live well in a retirement home. It costs 9,000.00 and of course this is financed, but there isn’t much left for them. Nevertheless, my mother wanted to keep her TV and there was a second TV box. 5.– what the heck, my Eltern said to themselves, but there was peace because of the TV program.

My mother told me about a letter and whether I could help her. I’ve only now figured out what’s going on. Instead of 5.– it costs 9.90. But, and this is the big, super surprise, you can connect up to 5 TVs. This is awesome! Bravo! Just one question: Where should my Eltern put the remaining 3 connections or TV boxes if they only have 2 televisions? There is no space for additional devices and I’m afraid that my Eltern won’t be able to afford any more TVs. Should they now go to the other residents and distribute the remaining boxes there?

Your new subscription is certainly ideal for shared apartments and families with children, but certainly not for single households and people who live in a retirement home. Nobody thought about that, right? It is extremely common that such users are punished even further. But that’s not very Swiss. Or is that exactly how a real Swiss company behaves?

My Eltern will probably not be able to do anything and will be left with the additional costs. Accept what was decided. That changes my opinion of you, dear Swisscom. And this isn’t pretty at all. I don’t want to force my Eltern on a new provider. It’s a difficult thing with age. The newfangled stuff is incomprehensible because sometimes it doesn’t make sense. Or is that supposed to mean and be a small, subtle hint that seniors should only have a maximum of 1 TV?

Don’t worry, my letter will still go to the official address. And maybe someone will write back. Someone will probably call and chat up my Eltern until they agree. But I can do something. I can change provider immediately. I am free and I will do so out of solidarity with my Eltern. And I can still do something. I’ll keep telling people and no one will tell me that this offer is good and fair for seniors and singles.

Dear Swisscom, I am disappointed in you. While you are enjoying your new subscription and the ladies and gentlemen on the executive floor are buying drinks and celebrating, some of your customers are wondering what they should do. And that’s not okay! You are the oldest provider of telephone, TV, etc. I grew up with you and your advertising. Don’t you also think that you have a responsibility towards your customers here???

4.90 CHF. This almost brings tears to my eyes. That’s less than a cup of coffee.

Do you also write letters like that when the cucumber in Migros or Coop now costs 2.50 instead of 1.80 CHF???

Dear Super User

You don’t seem to understand the problem. I’m very sorry for you.

One day you will also be a senior who may live in a retirement home. Then we’ll talk again……..

Comparing a cucumber with a subscription is so banal that I can’t think of any other comparison. The only thing is that my Eltern are less likely to buy cucumbers because they have lunch at the retirement home. That’s in the 9000.– including. You don’t seem to be able to treat yourself to more than the basic offer. Because even as a senior you should be fit and healthy. It’s just stupid that there are actually people who can no longer read because one eye is blind. Or too sick to play a board game with others. What’s left is the flicker box, so that you at least have some distraction.

Can you somehow understand that? When you try really hard? 😊

@Muta 4.90 CHF the end of the world…

Oh, by the way, it’s called a free market economy.

What do you do when the gas at your tank gets more expensive? Do you write them long bedtime stories?

If that’s too expensive for you, look for a gas station where the fuel is cheaper…

So switch to Wingo or Teleboy (Internet+TV+Fixnet for 54.60 CHF/month), is just a few clicks here

removed…

Differences between Blue TV and Wingo

P.S.: Everyone is with the provider they deserve…

A retirement home place for a single person in CH costs on average around 6,000 CHF/month, so a place for a single person is a bit of a luxury at 9,000 CHF/month **I think **.

@Muta

I’ve already mentioned the thing about seniors who mostly only watch the news and aren’t swimming in money.

I myself look after many retirement home residents where I also set up the installations on a voluntary basis and always try to keep the subscription price low. I may now recommend WINGO to some people.

Wow user109, now you’ve really given it to me. How can I write something like that in here as a bad bad girl? People and free market economy………whaaaaaaaaaaaaaasssss??

1. I don’t drive a car, so the gas comparison is silly

2. I strongly recommend that you study the current taxes of the retirement homes in the city of Zurich. 9000.– for a two person apartment is just like that. Nothing with luxury, absolutely nothing.

It’s a shame you don’t have the courage to come out and tell me directly. Or walk by a municipal retirement home and talk to the residents. Your Eltern would probably be incredibly proud of you if they could read your answers.

The post will probably be shortened and deleted, but I can’t help it.

User 109 you are a mean, unfriendly little worm who thinks he ate wisdom with a spoon. A little respect for other people would do you good. Fill up, fuel? Are you from Switzerland or from our neighboring German country? Then that would explain a lot.

Yes, it’s a shame that you’re anonymous on the internet, because I would love to teach you some decency. And then we would see how expensive a retirement home like that is. People like you should be deprived of all opportunities to post anything on the Internet. Until you learn decency towards others. Or do you become like that when you only think about your sad life where you have nothing to say???

@Muta

So… with all understanding. I strongly recommend you come down a bit. We maintain an exchange here in the forum with other words. Insulting or even personal attacks against other users will not be tolerated! There’s nothing we can do about the whole thing here, even though I can definitely understand your situation and that you’re upset.

@Muta

Please adhere to the rules of conduct in the community, it may be that many people do not know about the high costs in a retirement home and especially if someone still needs care and the CHF 7000 is for the costs of nursing staff and living space.

Hi @Muta

When I read your text like this, you probably already know that you’ve come to the wrong place with your request.

As you can see, products change over time and are adapted to new target groups. I am sure that you will find an offer for your Eltern that better suits your requirements. Retirement homes often offer a solution themselves, just ask the technical service there - they know what works and what doesn’t.

Alternatively, check with your Eltern what exactly they consume. Do you often use blue Premium? Does it have to be UHD? (For an overview of all TV subscriptions, click here) Maybe you can reduce the TV subscription a little without this affecting your Eltern remember big at all.

Others have already written what I think of your answer to @user109.

At least he just called me a “huge asshole” in a message. Not so bad. It’s just an emotional topic for some. When you give it out, you have to be able to take it. 😉

@Muta hey hello now you have to brake slowly…

Regardless of whether you don’t drive a car, I just wanted to make it clear to you as an example that if it gets too expensive you can change provider.

(Free market economy: supply and demand no one is forced to buy something there if it is too expensive for them).

I showed you alternatives.

Then why attack me personally?

Just because I said something about the costs of a place in a retirement home for a single person, and there is also a misunderstanding here: 6000 CHF / month for one person,

Doesn’t actually have anything to do with your complaint.

I know what I’m talking about, I’ve been in the field for Swisscom for 20 years and have often been in retirement homes and with older customers and have helped a lot with strange subscriptions and technical problems and I also do that in my free time.

P.S. I come from Germany and after 24 years I should already know how things work in CH…

And I would also demand some decency from you when you call my colleague a “huge a…hole” via PM.

So, I have no problem with not hiding behind my username…

@Muta I can still understand that the “price increases” don’t suit you, but that’s the case with people who try to help and suggest solutions (e.g. change provider, no one is forced to be with Swisscom). It’s not possible to behave like that, @JanineZ and other moderators, such behavior should not be tolerated and in my opinion the posts should be adjusted/removed (although that can be done too seem counterproductive, along the lines of “Swisscom censors what they don’t like”)

Show original language (German)

When offers are canceled/adjusted and higher costs are incurred as a result, that is of course always unpleasant. Nobody has any joy there. Can the provider do this? Yes, of course he can. Do I have to accept it? No, I don’t have to. Then I adjust the subscription so that the costs become lower again or I cancel completely and switch to another provider that better suits my needs. We are a free country, everyone can buy the provider or what he/she wants. But it remains the same as always… I have to take action myself, because nothing comes from anything, which means I just pay more per month. Yelling and fussing isn’t enough, the price won’t come down again and this is never a solution anyway. Solutions have been presented here in the thread, but further discussion is only possible in a normal and decent tone. Otherwise it’s closed here.
