access device through guest wifi
I have a Internet box 3 and want to make it possible to access a device (fe the heating) through the guest wifi.
how can i do this.

TMAR14 In MySwisscom -> Your Products -> Internet, you can see the ID and password of your visitor wifi. If your device is wifi capable you can enter both (Name and Password) there. But the guest Wi-Fi runs on the 2.4 GHz band. If you need more, the guest WiFi will not work.

Why would you want to do this?
I want to give a guest, who is using the “guest wifi”, access to certain devices connected to the network.
for example the printer or the heating device, to adopt the temparture.
this is both possble when using the “main” WiFi, but not when on the Guest WiFi.
i know there a routers where one can authorise access for WiFi Guest users, but couldn’t find any settings in the Intenet Box 3
I don’t know if the inter-device communication is allowed on Guest WiFi. This is something to check.

It is not possible to integrate a guest from the guest network into your main Wi-Fi network. The guest network is exclusively for individuals at your place who want to connect to the internet independently of your personal network. The two networks are separate.

I meant 2 devices that are both in Guest WiFi.

I did not meant 2 devices that are in the Guest Network, but devices/addresses that are in the “router’s” network, but not available to the Guest Wifi. Due to protection of the network, Guest Wifi does standard not allow Guest Wifi users to access devices in the network, logic.
but for certain devices like a printer it would be also logical that users can access those selected devices.
Some routers allow to add access permission to individual devices in a netwerk for Guest Wifi users, by configurating the permission to be accessed by the Guest network on the device/address level.
You can leverage cloud services to expose those.

Unfortunately, the Internet Box does not offer this functionality. You cannot customize the firewall between both networks.
