    • hed, Samsi, and DigitalTommy like that.
    • Addition:

A Wingo subscription with an activated 5G option in conjunction with a 5G-capable mobile device (e.g. iPhone 15) can also use 5G while roaming! Tested successfully so far on Orange-F and Free (also France). At first I thought 5G would only be available domestically, but apparently that’s not the case.

Battery consumption with activated 5G is not noticeably higher than with 4G. Data transfer runs more smoothly, but was actually absolutely satisfactory with 4G/LTE.

I have booked the option. However, notice that the battery consumption with activated 5g is massively higher than directly with Swisscom. Does anyone else have this?

How long does the battery last if it is 100% charged in the morning and then in the evening at 8:00 p.m.

In my opinion, the provider should have no influence on battery consumption with 5G.

Is the iPhone up to date? There was an update to iOS 16.4.1 a few days ago. Recently, users have been having battery problems due to iOS updates, especially at the beginning with iOS 16! As a test, you can deactivate 5G on your iPhone for a day. If the battery consumption is still higher than usual, it’s not the 5G problem.

Yes, iOS 16.4.1 is on it. I forgot to mention this, but I already did: when I go back to 4g, the battery consumption is back to normal with the same usage. That’s why I suspect that there is still a problem with Wingo on the 5g.

5G Wingo is electrical = 5G Swisscom - if there was something, all 5G Swisscom customers would also be affected

Now I would just have to replace my slightly older smartphone (iPhone 11) in order to benefit from the Wingo 5G option, but well, there is this option.

So far I’ve gotten through very well with 4G. As a direct comparison: I have an iPhone 13 from the store (which supports 5G), unfortunately the company is with the wrong provider: We have Sunrise Business contracts, which supposedly include “5G high-speed internet”. In fact, the reception with Sunrise at home isn’t even enough for uninterrupted phone calls, and things don’t usually look much better when I’m on the go. With Sunrise at the home office location, 5G high speed means: 1-3 Mbit/s download (regardless of whether with 4G or 5G), for comparison with Wingo and “only” 4G usually around 230 Mbit/s. That’s why I’m actually very satisfied with the Wingo 4G.

For those for whom the 4G network is not fast enough, Wingo now also offers an upgrade in the form of a 5G option. I may check this at a later date (e.g. when the smartphone is replaced). Until now, 5G use was reserved for Swisscom customers, so it’s nice that Wingo customers can now also enjoy the option.

I also have a Swisscom prepaid number (so that I can officially write in this forum 😅), 5G would also be possible there with a corresponding option…
