Little brother of 5590 runs on Swisscom and I assumed that my box would also run if it was sold in Switzerland and Swisscom is not necessarily the smallest provider. Fritzbox is also a bad product"
Unfortunately, this only has to do with company policy, it’s not that Fritz is a bad product, but that Swisscom can sell its own modems, under whatever pretext, supposedly because the network is more stable. It’s better to delay the release a little, but it’s better not to allow competition yet.
It probably won’t be long before the standard changes again so that you can hand over your own devices.
If they teamed up with several well-known modem providers (Zyxel, Fritz, etc.) and provided them with good support, it would be easier for many people to be able to choose from a good selection of devices. But then they have to train their supporters on many devices, which causes costs.
It’s easier to say please press the reset button and it will work again. You notice when it doesn’t work again that the support person on the phone is already starting to sweat.
It’s like the whole smart home story, now there’s Matter and Thread to simplify it for us and yet manufacturers find a way that you still have to use their Getaway (like Philips Hue), yes Matter but Thread isn’t installed. Without Hue Bridge, the app doesn’t run properly and you have far fewer options.
Greetings Steff
According to the AVM answer, the 5590 runs in the Swisscom network.
The 5590 serves fiber optic connections with a maximum data rate of 10,000 Mbit/s and can be used on Swisscom connections [https://avm.de/service/wissenskatalog/dok/FRITZ-Box-5590-Fiber/3620\_FRITZ-Box-am-Swisscom-Glas Fiber-Connection-setting-up](https://avm.de/service/wissenskatalog/ doc/FRITZ-Box-5590-Fiber/3620_FRITZ-Box-on-Swisscom-fiber-optic-connection-setup)
Now the question is where is the problem?
What kind of final FW is needed? Fritz only released a new FW for 5 days!? 😳
Who’s holding the buck now? Large mills are simply extremely slow. Until A notices that B has already acted.

5590 is not 5530
The FRITZ!Box 5530 Fiber Edition XGS-PON is one of the XGS-PON modems/routers tested and approved by Swisscom (see [BBCS Proved Equipment List](https://www.swisscom. ch/dam/swisscom/en/ws/documents/E_BBCS-Documents/e_bbcs_supporting-documentprovedequipment.pdf)).

We sometimes make firmware release candidates for our laboratory devices, which we do not give to customers in the field for testing purposes. They are then explicitly versioned and it is clear that they should not go to customers. The versions are functionally identical, but labeled differently. It’s a step-by-step thing, it’s finished for AVM, but not yet for Swisscom. I’m confident that it won’t be long.
🙂
So I wouldn’t talk about the buck here. A colleague once developed ISDN telephones. He once talked about the test cases and the standards that you have to meet. Unimaginable and complex.
The rest of the fiber optic routers are publicly available, which makes the XGS-PON certification so necessary might. That takes some time, and in the event of an error, you have to analyze where it happened. This can take some time if you as a provider don’t want to suddenly experience unpleasant surprises if 1000 third-party routers suddenly run amok on the network.
We also had a customer who spent almost a year testing and releasing a firmware/software change…
And last but not least, my glass Anschluss is still blocked by the WeKo theater and not fully installed. In this respect, I still have a little (more) patience.

There is this official list of Swisscom’s Broadband Connectivity Service: [https://www.swisscom.ch/dam/swisscom/en/ws/documents/E\_BBCS-Documents/e\_bbcs\_supporting-documentprovedequipment.pdf](https://www.swisscom.ch/dam/ swisscom/en/ws/documents/E_BBCS-Documents/e_bbcs_supporting-documentprovedequipment.pdf)
I was happy to connect my Fritzbox and the box has version 7.29 on it? Internet connection checked failed. For me this means that the box is released and that it is running, or how should I understand that? Or do I have to update the box to version 7.50 first? Is the Fritzbox already running for someone. Does anyone have any more information? It’s slowly but surely getting on my nerves.
Hello manfi30, I probably expressed myself incorrectly. AVM, for its part, has published (released) version 7.50 for the Fritz!BOXes 5530 and 5590.
However, this does not mean that the hardware/software version combination has been released on the Swisscom network.
On the official list it can be seen that the Fritz!BOX 5530 with Fritz!OS 7.29 running in the Swisscom network. We are all eagerly awaiting an updated list, which will hopefully also include the Fritz!BOX 5590.
